Disneyland tower.. what to expect? Direct buy?

I would contact DVC sales and find out who your guide is or have one assigned. Let them know you are interested. As soon as it goes on sale to members they will call you and get the sale completed. Members got first access when VGF went on sale before the public could by and the price was cheaper too.

I got spooked of what the price would be and what the minimum purchase would be for us. We ended up buying a Grand Californian resale contract.
We continue to go back and forth about that: Buy more VGC or get some @ DLT. I guess we have a few years to think about it :-). It's probably going to be super cool and the shiny new toy in the DVC world but... location location location - I'm not sure you can beat VGC?

...and the VGC resale price didn't spook ya?

I dunno, I always opted for the DLH for cash stays every time. The history and whimsy is there. I have a small VGC resale contract I will use for alternate trips (which is why the direct price of DHL won't spook me.) Plus there's the Trader Sam's terrace at twilight 😍 The walk to the park isn't remotely long.

I mean... you make good arguments! :-). Plus monorail is close by which can be fun.

It cost us $227 per point for 100 points at VGC. Direct price for Riviera right now is $201 per point and the minimum buy in for the blue card is 125 points. So it’s $22,700 initial purchase price for VGC resale and $25,125 purchase price if the direct cost doesn’t go up in the next few years. I expect Disney will keep raising the direct price so the gap will be even bigger.

Monorail is fun, but it can be very unreliable, lol. When it is working, it's especially nice to hop on it at the end of the day in Tomorrowland back to the hotel, but when we had early morning entry, we'd just walk to the park instead of take the Monorail because it was so slow and sometimes it wasn't even operating. It can be hit or miss.

You can’t stand up in it either and I’m so used to the one at WDW that I always hit my head. 🤪

But of course if you already own you won’t need to buy 125 points (or at least that’s the case now) and if you’re DL focused, direct benefits aren’t worth much.

Usually pre sale has traditionally been one of the lowest price per point time. DLT will probably be the last DVC unit built at DL unless things have changed. I would expect low $200-210 buy in, but who knows. Time will tell. I am going on a lumber here and saying it will sell out faster than Aulani. All joking aside it will probably sell out very fast, probably in the top 2.

I think they will drastically raise the per point cost for this resort because of the fact that there is so much pent up demand or they will increase the minimum buy in for the blue card.....or both.

I am interested to see the interplay between a reduced capacity Disneyland (and DCA) and the desirability of the onsite hotels. I can see paying a hefty premium for that experience.

Reviving this thread after reading through instead of creating a new one on a related topic. I am interested in buying the new Disneyland resort when it becomes available for sale. I am an existing DVC member - bought resale and have never spoken to a DVC guide. Do I need to proactively reach out to be assigned a guide early so that I can join the waitlist for Disneyland Tower when they start selling it, or am I okay to hang tight and wait on announcements? I don't have a need for a specific UY and not looking for a deeded week, just want to buy points. Looks like based on the math someone posted upthread it's not like it's going to sell out instantaneously, so am I better off to wait around and see what presale offers come out? (I know it may be a while, just curious now)
It’s going to be 3 or 4 million points. It’s not gonna sell out in a day. You don’t have to do anything.

Their first offer is usually their best. If you’re certain you want to buy direct I would plan to take whatever the introductory offer is.

You should be able to add-on online without a guide.

Given the 2020/2021 changes, it may be the last DVC build for quite some time. There's nothing at all under construction at WDW right now, compared to two or three in the pipeline for many years.

I guess all those RIV and Aulani points will still be around for a while though...

Aulani will never sell out. I would be surprised if Disney hasn’t already figured out what the next WDW DVC will be; I imagine they will wait until things return to normal to lock it in though.

I expect they'll still use the Reflections site, they just won't build Reflections there.

Even if they started now, that's years away. They had barely started clearing the site. I would guess the next one is more like slapping some paint on something. Or, just keep kicking a dead RIV for a few years.

Oh I agree. I think we’re 3-5 years away from Disney starting construction on a DVC resort at WDW.

I expect they’ll build another conversion at Poly or do a conversion at VGF (last one wasn’t technically a conversion). Or perhaps BLT2. But conversion is cheapest.
