Disneyland the week of Thanksgiving

Now that my son is starting kindergarten I am having to plan our vacations around his school schedule which I am not used to doing. I am thinking about going to DL for his birthday in November, the days he is off of school are Saturday 17th to Sunday 25th. If you could go 3 days that week what would you pick? Work schedules are flexible so I don't need to take those into account.

We live in So Cal so I might get AP this year, haven't decided yet.

Thank you so much for any advice. We haven't been to DL for 4 years so I am excited.

The days leading up to Thanksgiving have been busier than the Fri-Sun after TG the last couple of years. APs are blocked that weekend (except Premium) so those that have the whole week off go before the holiday.

I was there at that time last year. We started our trip 10 days before Thankgiving and the park some days was so quiet, we got to go on Splash Mountain 5 times before we had to get out of our boat. They just let us go on again, and again and again and the only reason we got off was because we were getting cold. HOWEVER the last three days of our trip which was 3 days before Thanksgiving, the park was the polar opposite of our quiet days. It was CRAZY BUSY, and the lineups were three times as long. We got extremely impatient some days and very frustrated. We have been to Disneyland during peak times before but this was a bit much for us. We just had to make the best of our fast passes, and take our breaks out of the park and rest our heads before going back to tackle some more. But it's Disney, you cant go and have a terrible time.

How busy is the park on Thanksgiving Day? That is the day we arrive and we would get a half day and wondering if it is worth it or if we should wait until Friday to go in. Thanks!
