Disneyland summer question (grad nights and star wars)

We are taking either a Disneyland or Disney World trip this summer. We were at Disney World two summers ago and were at Disneyland about five years ago. We want to be nowhere near the opening of Star Wars land. We would also like to avoid grad nights. Should we just avoid Disneyland altogether and go back to Disney World? I would love to see Disneyland again. We've been there three or four times but it's been awhile. I just don't want it to be super crowded. We were there right around the time that Nemo, World of Color, and Cars land opened, but Star Wars will be a whole different beast...

Grad Nites run through June 14 (Jun 4, 5, 7, 8, 11, 12, & 14). They haven't announced when Star Wars Land will open, but mid-June seems to be the current favorite guess (based on the AP blockout calendar). If the guess of around June 21 is right, there might be a very small window between when Grad Nites end and SWL opens, but I think that there is a good chance of media events, previews, hard ticket events, etc. happening before the official opening.

So, if we tried to arrive around June 14th, you think they would already ben doing Star Wars stuff? I wish they would announce when it was opening.

It’s just impossible to know right now. I think I would be less concerned about grad nights and more concerned about Star Wars opening. Can you go earlier in June?

Read through this thread for lots of good information and advice: Surviving Summer 2019 at Disneyland!. As suggested above, your best bet for avoiding Grad Nites and SWGE opening is to visit as early in June as possible or even in May. It is possible that early June will be previews and media events, as well as Grad Nites. Can you visit during Spring Break?

I am a teacher, so the earliest we could go would be the first of June. We can't do spring break because my son is going to Universal Studios in Orlando with his marching band over spring break.

I guess I am just worried about crowds in one park two nights we'd be there due to grad nights. We have no desire to see Star Wars land anytime soon, so we want to avoid those crazy crowds. It's been a lot longer since we've been to Disneyland, but I don't want to go there and have massive crowds.

Since they re did the ticket structure for grad nites it's alleviated a bit of the crowd issues that used to come on grad nite days.

Grad nights aren’t as bad as they used to be. Now they have 3 ticket options:
1) full day park hopper with DCA evening party
2) 1-day DCA with evening party
3) Evening party only
The whole school gets the same ticket, so most end up picking Option 2 for cost reasons. If you just avoid DCA that evening you will be fine. Even during the day it wasn’t too bad.

We went this past June for 5 days to Disneyland with 3 of the nights being grad nights. We didn't even notice them and we were at the parks late every night. We are going back this June for 2 days and I do not want to be anywhere near the Star Wars land mess.

I’m also trying to plan a Disneyland trip in June. I’ve never been there before, so this is all new to me. I’m really hoping Star Wars won’t be open when we are there.
