Hey there. While I am a veteran of WDW I'm about to embark on my first trip across the country to California and more specifically Disneyland for the Star Wars Light Side Half Marathon Weekend. I'm going to be travelling by myself and will be staying at a good neighbor hotel. One thing I was curious about is what are the must visit restaurants for dinner and will I need to get a reservation. Also, any other tips you might have for a solo traveler. Thanks.

In park or generally?

The ones you need a reservation for are Blue Bayou, Carthay Circle, Napa Rose and Steakhouse 55. Blue Bayou is situated inside the Pirate's of the Carribbean ride. Carthay Circle is inside DCA park. Napa Rose and Steakhouse 55 are at the hotels which are easily accessible by walking. The other places often don't need a reservation. You can look at all the menus online and make reservations online 60 days in advance.

I think that Blue Bayou in DL is a must (and generally requires reservations)! Ask for a waterside table and you'll be able to watch the boats from PotC go by as you eat. You won't even mind eating solo as it'll be so entertaining!

In DCA, Cove Bar is also great for a small meal/snack (located in Paradise Pier). The lobster nachos are to die for! I also like their flatbreads. Unfortunately, there is usually a long line for Cove Bar (they don't take reservations), but I think they will be able to squeeze you in a lot sooner since you'll be solo. Going right when they open at 11am will help too.

In Downtown Disney I like Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen. They have an express counter service option too. Maybe others can chime in, but I've found that smaller groups in Downtown Disney don't typically need reservations, but if you like specific meal planning it couldn't hurt.

I like the following options, all off property, but good for most Good neighbor Hotels.

Mimi's Cafe is a good standard restaurant on Harbor.

The Pizza Press serves great made to order pizzas, Might be good for before the race. Also on Harbor.

Anaheim GardenWalk has some good choices, Fire + ICE is a good priced casual all you can eat Mongolian BBQ with lots of other choices.

Fast Food near the park is Del Taco, and about 3 miles north of the resort on Harbor is In-n-Out Burger.

Also near In-n-Out is an all you can eat Sushi place I like.

So there are some choices that are single friendly and serve good food.

Any In-n-Out's located within walking distance of the Disney resorts ?
If not really feasible to walk , what is the best way to get to one, and which one is the best among the close ones ?

Thanks !

I would get reservations ASAP for whatever restaurant you want to go to. Even the smaller not-so-fancy places like Carnation Café or Café Orleans, just make a reservation to be safe..

The easiest to get to (none are with walking distance) is the one on Harbor and Orangethorpe. Basically take the OCTA Route 543/43 bus 3 miles north, and the bus stop is right in front of the restaurant. Lots of shops nearby, so a good time to get a few things....

OCTA day pass is $4, and your ART Day Pass also works on the OCTA.

I recommend Pacific Wharf Cafe in DCA and Earl of Sandwich at Downtown Disney.

Thanks for the tips guys. I ended up making 3 reservations. The Blue Bayou, Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen and Wine Country Trattoria Dinner with World of Color Viewing. Only 14 more days!

I did a solo dinner in the Lounge at Napa Rose and I can't recommend it enough. I'm in love with Napa Rose! As a solo diner, I felt VERY comfortable eating in the lounge and the full menu was offered to me.
