I would like to know if someone has been at Disneyland Resort in mid December. I have been there twice already during the summer and had a blast, but it was kind of crowded. Can any body tell me about their experiences about how crowded it is, the weather, and perhaps suggest a good hotel outside of the park regardless of price? It will be December 14th thru the 22th.

Thanks!

It will be getting crowded by then. Most schools get out on the 14th so that is the day that it will start getting crowded. As a general rule, when schools are out of session, you are gonna have crowds!!

Can you go just the week before, it would be much much less crowded? If not, then you are going early enough to miss the majority of the crowds for Christmas.

By the way, welcome to the DL boards.

I guess it depends what you want in a hotel. Do you like walking distance or would you rather take the shuttle? Do you need a breakfast? Does the pool matter? If you answer some of those, we can better help with a hotel that would be right for your family!!

Great time to go. You can see my TR in that section for our trip this past early Christmas. Almost no crowds. Waits for major rides never peaked 30-45 minutes. Weather is great. A little chilly in the evening, but the adrenaline keeps you warm. I'd recommend the Ramada Plaza Hotel. We got a rate last year for around $70 a night. It's a 3 diamond AAA and is only a 2 block walk from the parks. Very manageable for a week long stay.

Depends on where you are what day schools get out for x-mas. We live in Oregon and they just announced next years schedule and they are out starting on the 21st. check the web sites for schools in southern Calif and see when they get out.

Thanks for helping us plan our Disneyland vacation!
I guess that we are going to have to deal with the crowds, but having Disneyland all to ourselves would not be fun anyway. I would like to stay in a motel one block away or closer. Last year We booked the cheapest motel that I could find and the service was, well, not so great .I am going to purchase the Mickey's dining option so food is not a factor.I guess Iwould like to find a room in the moderate level with a good environment and really soft beds to crush at night.Thank you, this forum has a lot of great and useful information!
