Disneyland reservations

One more question from a first time Disneyland visitor - are all reservations for dining and tours really just by phone? That seems surprisingly difficult to go through a whole conversation of "well, what times does the restaurant serve breakfast/lunch/dinner", "ok, what times are free on days x-y", "hmm, ok let me now think about which times fit my plan while you sit on the phone with me"! Is there someplace that at least lists the restaurant's serving hours? I didn't see them listed on the disneyland website. Are reservations not really needed at Disneyland like they are at Disney World?

you can email to get your reservation. check out this link on Disneyland's website for instructions: http://disneyland.disney.go.com/dining/

Not sure where to get the hours of operation. Perhaps DLR vets can tell you more on that. I believe CM of email reservation would tell you if the time that you have requested is not available and give you other options for the ressie.

I just did my dining reservations and what I would suggest is e-mail them. It took about 30 minutes for them to respond with my confirmation number. When I called them before that the respondant told me that the reservations are not as in demand as they are at WDW.

Depending on what time of year you go, you can get reservations on the same day! It's awesome! I've called the morning of several times and been able to score Cafe Orleans, Big Thunder Ranch BBQ, Carnation Cafe and others. So it is certainly not as intense as WDW. You can't always just walk in, but usually you can call a couple of hours in advance and get a reservation, unless you are there at the busiest times of the year.

Now the caveat is that I would totally make reservations in advance for any of the character meals and some of the more popular restaurants if they are on your "must do" list. Those are pretty much just Carthay Circle and Blue Bayou though, and of course the character meals. And even those don't fill up too fast. I'm going in three weeks, and I had to call yesterday to change my Carthay Circle reservation. They had plenty of open times! So even a week or two before is probably fine.

I know this probably sounds crazy to WDW vets, but it's true! I am totally a 160 days out, first thing in the morning reservation booker at WDW, but it's just more relaxed at DLR. Which I'm sure you'll notice in other areas as well! It's just a more easygoing trip, because it is so much easier to get around and see what you want to.

It is really simple to make dining reservations at the Disneyland Resort. We basically tell them when we want to eat at whatever restaurant, and they will tell us if that time is available, and if not, they'll give us alternate times.

I have called them while at the parks and made reservations for the same day several times. On really busy days when the restaurant I've wanted hasn't been available, I've been able to ask which ones are, and make a decision based on the openings. It is really easy here.

When we book WDW it is nice that they added the ability to book online. This has only been the case the past 2 years I believe. Prior to that ADR's had to be booked by phone or email.

At WDW you almost MUST book months in advance to get the dining you want at times you desire. At DLR I've always been able to book 1-2 weeks out and sometimes same day, even on busy days. Still, online booking would make things easier.

I'm another WDW regular who will be making his first extended trip to DL in 2 weeks. I've found the dining reservation process to be super easy and so much better than WDW! I called to make reservations for Blue Bayou and Carthay Circle a few weeks ago and got the times I wanted. The other night I e-mailed to get reservations for Steakhouse 55 and Cafe Orleans...got a response within 20 minutes, both were within a 15 minute window of the times I requested.

Super Simple Process!!!
