Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

Did you see all the food that’s closed? It’s on Mouseplanets Facebook if not. It’s a lot!
NVM, I just saw it. Barely any restaurants are open. I find this crazy. When I went to WDW in November, there were more open than this and lines were incredible. The mobile ordering took forever and it was really problematic if you had any kind of dietary restriction.
I see the same issues here. So many choices are closed.

Well, if Cali opens up on 6/15, our 7/3 trip is a GO!

I know. So many questions about this! Will there be occupancy restrictions? Or does fully open mean fully open? We are coming late July and if out of state guests can book, this changes our entire trip. We may do Disneyland, Knotts, and Universal. Glad I’ve been saving my money!

OMG...no pretzels???

Wait. What? No Mickey pretzels? Omg. It’s not even worth going. (Mostly kidding)

If out of state visitors are allowed after June 15,
I’m going to be watching what’s open closely. I don’t really want to pay what they charge for tickets if lots of things will be closed. Watching with interest at how all of this plays out.

That list was insane. I hadn't even thought of the restaurants or shops being closed.

It seems like all of the restaurants in Tomorrowland are closed, most in Adventureland (besides Bengal Barbecue), and New Orleans square is closed (except French Market). Fantasyland has the Red Rose Taverne. Wow.

Smokejumpers seems like our only favorite place to reopen.

Yeah, the list of closed restaurants is super disappointing. My son always gets pizza and now that isn't an option in either park. Ugh.

And I'm super shocked to see that several beer stands in DCA won't be open either. What gives?

No pretzels is like a criminal offense... that's a classic Disney park food.

And with the limited offerings, that's gonna create long lines and waits for mobile order time slots. More closed dining options also means less CMs called back too. 😢

Maybe this is just temporary for the initial reopening and they'll open more for summer?

This is what I'm hoping for.

Otherwise, to be honest, I don't know how many times I will be willing to buy day tickets with these drastic reductions in offerings and the limited park hours. I have committed to 2 days for my kids in May, and a 4th of July stay at the Grand, if we can get it, but beyond that, they'd better either offer annual passes or fully open up everything.

Ok. So. We knew no parades or fireworks or shows. Distanced character “sightings” rather than meet and greets. Possibly some missing rides due to indoor restrictions. Reduced experiences overall... But...

The food limitations seem extreme. That’s a LOT of places closed, including several (like Hungry Bear) where you could sit and enjoy your meal with a nice view. Still no pickles, and lots of other missing treats!

Also... so many of the “little experiences” are out - no shooting gallery, Redwood Challenge Creek, Tom Sawyer Island, Sorcerer’s Workshop, etc... I understand “why,” but I didn’t necessarily expect ALL of those types of things to be closed...
Idk. There just doesn’t seem like that much to do/enjoy. We’ve done so many long, long park days and never got bored. There was always “one more FP” to use, “one more character” to go and meet, “one last show” to catch, “one more treat” to grab, so we’d stay for 12 hours when we’d meant to do four. I feel like when I actually see the list, I don’t know how much stamina we’ll have for “stand in this line for a ride, then walk over here and stand in this long line for a ride” without anything to break it up?

I knew it would be different, but I guess I didn’t realize quite how much was being stripped away. 😬😬😬

Lots of food options are still closed at WDW and the parks have been open since last summer. I think unfortunately, with reduced capacity comes reduced food options.

This was going to be my comment. There are still tons of restaurants and quick service places closed at WDW. I was there last month and picking a quick service for lunch a few times was tough as several of my favorites are still closed. Same with table service. My friends and I tried a few new to us restaurants as getting reservations to sit down was tough with the limited options. So honestly, I was not surprised by the limited options for food as it has been that way at WDW for 9 months already. I am seriously hoping by September more will be open at WDW for dining or there may be a couple more new ones or we will be duplicating restaurants.

Only using your comment since it summarizes a lot that is closed. But honestly, I am not surprised. If you have been following WDW, these are all closed there too. Especially a lot of dining. It seriously is mainly just riding rides down there. No real shows yet (only notable exceptions I can think of is the Frozen sing along at HS and the bird show at AK). No meet and greets. No parades or fireworks. I was much more tired at the end of my days when I was there last month as I was not getting the chance to sit for periods of time by stopping into shows.

Frankly I'm shocked with the restaurant list.

golden horseshoe especially because they have entirely separate mobile order pickup area that is not in a cluster fudge area to cause social distancing issues.

hungry bear is pretty shocking too given the amount of seating they have and being similarly out of the way.

also REALLY surprised to see everything in toontown closed given that those places are some of Disney's easiest options for mobile ordering because they are all walk up to the OUTDOOR counter and order places.

So something that kept me up last night - when it comes time to book park reservations, are we only able to a do a day at a time or can I book for length of tickets? Will we be limited to how many park reservations we can hold at once?

With 5 day hoppers, I want to be able to use all of the days, especially since the 13 day use period still applies to previously purchased tickets.

I don’t expect anybody to have any more info than what’s been put out, more just putting it out there.

The WDW system has you book each day one at a time. Also at WDW, if you have 5 days of park tickets, you can book 5 days of park reservations. They only limit the APs to 3 booked reservations with the exception being if you have a resort reservation.

Thanks! That helps a lot. Since there is a good chance my DD17 will have to do it for us, when I’m at work, I need to prepare her as best as I can for what to expect.
