Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

I was kind of bummed about not being able to visit, but honestly these restrictions sound pretty complex. It's probably for the best (for us) that out-of-state can't go right now, because I feel like we're going to be missing out. I'm hoping by December things are a little more relaxed.
I'm starting to worry, I would hate to go and rides are closed

Same here. It's going to be a bummer to have no Fantasmic/parades/fireworks, but having rides possibly closed or long lines due to spacing would take a lot of enjoyment out.

I'm feeling the same way, having some of the rides possibly closed would be a dealbreaker. Long lines will be guaranteed, unfortunately though. But they will move quick since there's no FastPass to slow it down, makes the time pass easier if you're constantly walking forward.

I am okay with waiting until Christmas now, I would rather wait and go back when they can at least run things like WDW is. I feel like that's doable but any less than that is not for me. Especially seeing shops/dining closed too, you know they won't open all those right away.. it's been months and WDW hasn't even done that. Which is frustrating.

Especially Pirates... I would be crying!

I know we talked on here about how it's possible to speed the boats up and all that but I wouldn't be breathing a sigh of relief until I see it on paper. I'm just curious about what happens when a ride does exceed 15 minutes? Do they get a fine? Some sort of penalty? If that's the case, they might not want to risk it. And what happens if a ride gets stuck, which we all know can happen!

Totally. We are going in late May because we have DVC points we need to use. But I’m feeling less bummed about a resort only trip!

Last night, I was also able to get refundable tickets on American for 15K miles round trip Phoenix to Orlando for Labor Day weekend, non stop on the way home even! I am hoping that stays a CA trip, but I’m happy to have enough covered for a switch to FL if needed. That’s a mother/son 10th birthday trip now scheduled a year later than planned! It’s happening one way or another in Sept after being rescheduled 4-5 times now.

That’s probably what will happen. All of these rides do have outdoor queues. If they remove the switchbacks, those could also be utilized. I wonder if the Rocket pre-show will be eliminated from Guardians...
At WDW, you just walked through the pre-show at tower of terror. No stopping in there. Actually, all pre-shows were not running except Tiki Room (it was outside) if I remember correctly.

Yup, no preshows for any of the attractions. Which was a bummer, especially for Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway- but oh well.

I looked through the CA guidance again and noticed it says 'only outdoor shows in all tiers' so I would guess that eliminates Tiki Room, Lincoln, etc. Oof. I can only imagine how frustrating it is for businesses to receive this, especially with some of these restrictions applying in ALL tiers, but yet there's no information on this new green tier and when they end. What a nightmare.

Awesome! WDW is so fun, I highly recommend folks that are on the fence and waiting for Disneyland to just go for it. We're so excited to go back. While Disneyland is "home"- WDW is so amazing on its own. And there's tons of rumors swirling they'll be bringing back fireworks/nighttime shows this summer/fall so you'll definitely get experiences back sooner there than DLR.

So I am catching up here after a few days away. These restrictions don't make any sense to me. It seems strange that people can go into a restaurant and eat for an hour with masks off but can't ride a ride that is more than 15 minutes with masks on.
After all the data that has been collected on transmissions (or lack there of) in Disney World, why such strict restriction?
It definitely will put a dampener on the experience, but I will still go. It almost makes me think of going back to WDW this summer instead though.

The outdoor shows only requirement makes me hopeful that some shows like Mickey and the Magical Map, Fantasmic, and World of Color will return sooner rather than later...

Florida doesn’t really do contact tracing in a meaningful way, so there really is no way of tracking transmission. Especially when DW attracts people from all over the country and any cases related to DW would likely be counted in whatever area/state the guest returns to.

That being said, it’s the state of California. The state has dug in over these theme park restrictions. As those of us that have been living here under these restrictions for a long time have been saying - it is what it is. Don’t try to make sense of it. You won’t be able to.

That would be nice! But as we've seen over at WDW... Disney cutting costs has also been a big thing to contend with too. 😢 Sigh, I look back on our last Disney trip pre-covid with extra nostalgia nowadays.

But I still think the magic can be there! It just looks different.

If they are allowing outdoor shows does this mean parades can happen? They do Cavalcades at WDW that look fun, hopefully they can do that here.

It is sure going to be a different Disneyland than 14 months ago.

Something I'm very curious about... AT WDW the stretching room isn't an elevator so both doors open and people simply walked through. I wonder how they are going to deal with that room in Disneyland.

I am ready to head back into the park even with the current restrictions!

One possible upside of limiting it to CA residents for a bit is that maybe they then can contact trace and show actual evidence for transmission or lack thereof.

Unfortunately, Mickey and the Magical Map has been permanently cancelled. Same with Frozen at the Hyperion.

I do hope they will come up with something for the outdoor theater where “Map” was. Even just a bit of live music or something up there, with distanced rows marked for people to sit in the shade...

I really doubt it, but a girl can dream...

Ah totally forgot about them being canceled!

I think permanently cancelled means they let the cast go, it doesn’t necessarily mean they can’t recast in the future. But in the shorter term, I would assume they would start with something shorter and cheaper anyway.

Supposedly Map is done-done. A lot of the cast was actually thinking it would end soon anyway. They seem pretty convinced it’s over, like when Soundsational officially ended and they started tearing floats apart - it’s talked about that way. I guess I’d never say never, but...

Frozen was such an investment to create that I wouldn’t be surprised to see it come back someday. But they did announce it as officially closing, not just releasing the cast like they did for other shows. We’ll see!

They could always remount them especially if they haven't started dismantling and destroying the sets. I know that's been the hope for a few shows up here in the Bay that got cut short or never even got started. If they've destroyed anything, though, then yeah. They likely aren't coming back and hopefully we'll see something as good take their place :(

But we'll find out eventually. My fingers are crossed for a remount.

I would also take Aladdin coming back over Frozen, but I know that's far less likely :lmao:
