Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

I, too, hope its the latter. I don't want to buy tickets if I cannot get the day I want to go. Also, do you think they will open the hotels at the same time? If so, will they open reservations for the hotels first?
If they are not allowing out of state visitors to the park, it seems to me that tying park reservations to hotel reservations is probably the only way they will fill the hotels. So I wonder if they will do that?
That's a good question. They already announced that GC will only open to DVC in May, I guess they can move up that date and allow non DVC to book as well and then give priority to them. I think it addresses the problem you acknowledged above, no one wants to book a hotel there and then find out they can't go to the parks.

I’ll go once at full fare to get back in (and to enjoy what a low capacity Disneyland would be like)

But I’m more curious/anxious about the new AP program than I am about the official park opening date.

This is our plan. We are thinking we will go in May or June and then not return until the fall when they have hopefully announced/implemented the new AP/membership program. I am pregnant (due in August) so paying full price with limited options AND not being able to go on all the rides will not be happening more than once. Although, my husband and daughter might have another visit on their own.

Same here... our whole house is now vaccinated (sans kids) so we’re feeling pretty good about an opening month visit, just to get it out of our system.

But semi-regular visits won’t be until either the fall, or whenever the AP successor program comes into effect. My VGC reservations are bunched up in August and October, hopefully something by then?

prob have to factor in no up close character M&G, no parades, no fireworks first 3-4 months...still won't stop me. thinking of June trip already (after ToD)

It seems that the out of state visitor restriction is solely tied to the CA travel advisory. I wonder what it will take for that to be removed? Any CA folks know if he's set some kind of 'goal post' for that?

I don't want to get political but I wanted to address your question. I am in CA. As far as I know, there is no end date for anything...travel advisory, color chart, nothing. Right now the best the state can do is get to yellow with the restrictions that entails.

My guess is they won’t open the hotels right away, or at least not all of them. I think they‘ll open the Grand first. One, they can charge big bucks. Two, they are already opening the villas so it will be partially open, may as well fully open to spread costs. If they only open one hotel to start, it feels totally doable to guarantee entrance to hotel guests (thus more big bucks). But, I think that’ll still involve a ticket reservation, just either priority or must be done at reservation or something.

I think it’s good they announced this. I’ve heard dozens of people either on facebook or in my real life saying DL is opening April 1 as if it was a done deal. Late April could even be 4/30, which is a Friday.

Idk if I'm late to the game but tickets for avengers campus are live on Disney's website of course when you click the ticket link it takes you to another Disney page, but still, never seen this before..https://disneyland.disney.go.com/destinations/disney-california-adventure/avengers-campus/ I REALLY hope this bodes well for reopening timeline!!!!!!!!! Also, I hope they don't debut it during touch of Disney because I would be upset that i didn't try and get tickets.
Btw - the Select Tickets button there isn't just for Avengers Campus. It's a link for standard park admission tickets.

That button is part of the template - the Galaxy's Edge page has one, too:

Same reason ratatouille still isn’t open. They want it to drive sales. Why open into a sold out calendar.

I can see April 26th-28- Monday-Wed low volumes and allows preview dates for bloggers and media to get in before the weekend surge. Hard to kick out the kinks on a Friday and open full throttle. That's not setting up for success.

It also allows 1 week to turn out DCA and their crew to get in there to prep accordingly.

Typically Disney had reopened hotels before; but it doesn't look like it here and no significant real need as many are local demand even at 25% will fill the need.

Low volume? Weekend surge?

Um...once they open, every day will sell out at whatever number they are allowed to have. There will be no noticeable difference between weekdays and weekends for a very long time.

Okay -- wishful thinking on my part trying to get mid-week tickets perhaps ;)

Perhaps less people at DtD competing perhaps ? :D

---That said, I do wonder how they are going to handle DtD crowds as separate from the flow through to DLR. Say mid-day when DLR people push to DtD; will they be counted again; hampering inflow from outside into DtD?

I don't think it will be a huge issue. In red tier, stores can go to 50% capacity and indoor dining can resume at 25%. In Orange, stores can go even higher and dining to 50% capacity. The restaurants and shops will absorb the additional people easily.

Red tier qualification - Day 1 of 14 -- we're on our way ; as pointed out we're just shy of 2M disadvantaged to lower the bar to 10 and it's retroactive too --giving a week's credit. So potentially LA/OC/SanDiego all can go red next tuesday!

That would be great and if rates continue to drop for this week; that'll jump start to get into Orange during April to really lower the boon on covid while vaccination rates continue to rise.

All good news today with DLR announcement
