Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

It is certainly not owed, but it would be really nice if Disney did something for the 2020 and 2021 grads...when the time is right. Disney being Disney, who knows?
Disney let thousands of employees go and you think they can afford to Disney things for graduates? What about if they had the extra money rehiring laid off employees? Disney doesn’t owe anyone anything and just because Disney is Disney doesn’t mean they haven’t lost and suffered from the pandemic.

Disney doesn't need to do anything (nor is it owed) for the graduates of 2020/2021, it was never their job to do that in the first place. I am hoping that once things get a little bit better and back to normal that they rehire all the people they let go, and apologize for using them as a pawn. (which Disney being Disney they won't.) I think they probably will do away with grad nights for awhile.

I am not surprised about DLP being closed until February, I kind of expected it.. I think it just will further the idea that Disneyland won't open until either late winter or early spring at the earliest. I do miss Disney, but I know that it will open one day. I think the biggest thing I miss are the holidays, those decorations were always so beautiful.. especially at night. I also miss the churros, and the Disney treats .. which will make them that more enjoyable once I can safely go back.

They're using the employees as pawns? Are they suppose to keep paying people to not work because the state won't let them operate their business? This is literally why unemployment insurance exists. The state is paying them now, hopefully it doesn't run out before Newsome's kids decide they want to go to Disneyland.

Wow. Never said that.

If Disney can have a Gay Day or a Dapper Day, you can't imagine a world where they would celebrate 2020 and 2021 grads?

They went on and on about how they needed to lay off people due to financial reasons and that same week or just before they reinstated their huge salaries pre Covid and are receiving their bonuses.

Wouldn't this really be up to the schools? Letting graduates from 2020 & 2021 to participate in 2022 Grad Night for that school?

Honestly, the replies for anytime next year give me hope. It's difficult to feel hopeful when cases are rising and the whole year has seemed to slip away, but even if Disneyland opens by Christmas of next year I'll be a happy girl.

I'm not going to get my hopes up for spring or even early summer, though. Fall 2021 is what I'm betting. If I can wait a year, I can wait 9 or so more months.

Just to clarify: Gay Days and Dapper Days are unofficial/not Disney sponsored events. Those are independent conventions which are held at DLR. The convention organizers work with Disney to plan those conventions, to sell discount hotel rooms, to sell discount park tickets, etc. But the actual Gay Days and Dapper Day conventions are not Disney owned/sponsored at all. Disney doesn't have to sponsor an official event to celebrate anyone, i.e. an in-park event doesn't have to be Disney sponsored. People can take the initiative to put on their own events and work with Disney to hold the celebrations in the parks, e.g. Bat Days, Jitterbuggin' the Park (when it used to happen), Galliday, etc.

so you want the people who aren't working every day to continue to get paid for not working but the people who have been working this entire time and weren't getting paid to continue to not get paid while continuing. I feel so foolish now.

The laid off workers are getting paid by the state that won't let them work.

When I was there last night, the rope was up just past the Soarin bathrooms. I was looking forward to seeing Francisco too!

What day does the GCV open to guests? I’m assuming that is going into the thought process for increasing capacity at BVS too. I watched a vlog on YouTube and they are speculating Cars Land and Pacific Warf will open for food and addition seating. So we shall see soon what new things they add.
