Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

I read some really bad news regarding the vaccines today -- the mRNA vaccines need to be kept at -4 deg F (Moderna) and -94 deg F (Pfizer), this is going to be a MAJOR issue going forward, most of these vaccines cannot just be stocked in a normal freezer, much less shipped via standard cold-chain logistics vehicles.

Ugh. I really do think DL/all of us will have to adapt to no vaccine DL for quite a bit longer. Waiting for it isn't going to be feasible (yet).
Yeah, zero percent worried about that. They will find a way as it's in their best interest to get it out asap.

First rides for us will be Space Mountain at DL and probably Incredicoaster at DCA even though we much prefer it at night!

When DL reopens, and I personally think it will be sooner than later, then people who don’t feel safe just shouldn’t go and not pass judgment on those who do.

My first ride is usually Peter Pan. As a teen it was Matterhorn.
DCA is Toy Story.

My guess is they are still discussing things. Theme Parks are a complicated mix of rides, restaurants, entertainment and retail. Even if Newsom said Theme Parks can open in Orange there is no way to know when that will occur. I guess it at least it gives people something to look to. I also wonder if Disneyland will wait until the county hits the metrics / stage before they announce an opening date. Right now it is a moving target. With the very real possibility that they open and have to close a few weeks later.

I think they’ll be ready to open pretty quickly once given the okay and I don’t think they’re afraid of having to close again. I think once things open up again they’ll remain open. It’s getting harder and harder to put that genie back in the bottle with each shut down. Especially with rumors/reports of inflated numbers being released... not the place for THAT discussion though!

Lol I'm worried because I'm now on the hunt for some fridges that can hold this stuff (even if they improve the temperature range).

Agree 100%! Especially the red part!

Lol it’s one of my favorites. My aunt says if I keep riding Matterhorn now I won’t be able to walk when I’m 30 haha
I do love Matterhorn too & everytime i get off the ride, i always say 'idk how much longer i can take this abuse LOL'..and still ride it as many times as i can

Just wanted to add..... LOVE the Matterhorn too and still riding it at 71 (!!?!) .... hahaha
:flower1: :jumping1:

Yep! Rope drop until they kick me out :)

They don't kick you out, a friendly line of security guards appear, gathers together, and they very gently herd you to the front of park by Main Street like happy goats + play the "Disneyland has ended its operating day" announcement

Clearly I've overstayed DL many times :rotfl2:

Wasn't there something about Big Thunder Mountain and its ability to dislodge kidney stones?

See... not only can Disneyland open as a common carrier, it's also a major medical center! Need your back adjusted -- Matterhorn; need your kidney stones removed -- Big Thunder; bradycardia (low heart rate) -- ROTR; hypothermia -- Mr. Toad's Wild Ride.
Yes! And Space, and pretty much any good roller coaster. I can attest to it as a long-time kidney stone generator (started in my teens, so decades). I have to bring pain meds just in case a larger stone reacts to the strong force (centrifugal? centripetal?) and tries to exit the kidney. That's great if it's small enough to make it through the tube, not so great if it's too large. Sadly, I always have stones in my kidneys and there's nothing anyone has ever figured out that prevents it, and believe me, I've tried. But anyway, people who have stones they want to pass really do go ride coasters as a method! Disneyland is the best known for that.

LOL! They should start playing "Closing Time" if you haven't gotten the hint after the "Disneyland has ended its operating day" announcement.

As far as first rides, I don't know! I don't really care! I am mainly looking forward to wandering around and looking at all of the things I love, which are infused with memories and feelings of happiness. I want to hear the music, see Main Street, enjoy the details that make Disneyland so special and unique. I love the rides, but right now I'm just missing the sensory experience of being inside the park. I love DCA, but I consider it secondary and it's really not as much a part of my nostalgia. If the parks were a meal, DL would be the entree and dessert and DCA the sides. And maybe the drinks.

I didn't see anything specific to this (unless I missed it) and if this is in the wrong thread let me know. Our two APs are expiring 9/4. Has anyone had AP's expire and have opted to have them extended by the amount of the closure (I had called to have this for our two APs when the initial emails came out with the options). Has anyone actually talked to a CM about his kind of situation?

Oh man...

When we finally get to go (because with 70+ year old family members, it may not be right when they open), the first ride on day 1 will be either POTC or BTMRR. The first ride in DCA will be Cars, no question.

I can only speak for myself but my guess is those who are not comfortable aren't going to be heading to the parks regardless of when they open. I am one of those who would not feel comfortable. I have no judgement for those who do feel comfortable and are following all the safety protocol. I only judge those who are doing whatever they want however they want without regard for how their actions impact others.

I have no doubt that Disney could open the parks today if given the okay. The biggest hurdle is going to be the CM's and how long of a notice they are required to give them before expecting them back at work. I felt that way too about not being able to reclose and I know some businesses are working underground because they had to reclose. But Disney won't be able to do that. So if they are told to close due to increases in cases, they are going to close.
