Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

You reminded me so I’m replying to you but this is for everyone with a potentially upcoming trip :)

DO NOT BOOK ANYTHING NON-REFUNDABLE. DLR has been very clear they will require park reservations. “But my hotel is not refundable” will not get you a park reservation if Disney is out when you get a chance to reserve your slot.

Yes! This is the one thing that still gives me anxiety about our trip, and why I have booked through WDTC for our Disney vacations. I am not sure if their vacation package holders will get any kind of priority access after onsite hotel guests. I am guessing that since new ticket and new AP sales are still on hold, that we should be ok getting a park reservation for each day, but you never know.

We were able to get each day that we wanted for a long WDW weekend at the end of July, but I knew we would be able to do that as I was booking the vacation package because you could see the availability of each park. Here, I have already booked the package and will have to keep my fingers crossed that we are able to get a park reservation for each day. If we can't when the park reservation system opens, then I think we will cancel and get the refund. No point in flying from Wisconsin out to DL if we can't go to a park each day.

As someone whose job relies on tax revenue I’d love to see things get back to normal. But I honestly can’t see Theme Parks getting guidance yet. Many business in earlier stages have been forced to reclose or limit their activities to outdoors. These business will likely reopen with new guidance before Theme Parks do. I still say November is the optimistic time frame for reopening. Let’s see how people handle Labor Day gatherings/not gatherings. If we don’t see a large spike then we might see Theme Parks getting guidance if we do well maybe not.
Maybe everything will be allowed to reopen 🤔 like all at once. But maybe each sector has to submit a reopening plan for approval then once it’s approved, they can open. Disney basically has their plan already it just needs approval.

No on all at once. CA gov is scarred after June/Jul. He has already said these guidelines will be more specific and personally I expect them to continue area by area allowances. (This county can open X & Y, but that one can only open X.)

"Reservations here to stay" - was that just meant for WDW? I know when DL rolled out the FlexPass, it was starting to look like they were going to switch to reservations for all APs. I thought it would take a few years to gradually move to that system as I am sure they would want to avoid a big drama. There's always a big drama when they change anything!

COVID of course came along and changed everything. It seems like when the parks reopen, it will be reservation only. With the statement the other day about reservations are here to stay coupled with APs not being available to purchase or renew, they could easily make the changes to the APs for COVID and then just never change back.

I had the Flex last year and didn't like it. I was planning on renewing back to Signature, but if there's always going to be a reservation, I'm not sure if I will get an AP at all. I think I could just go once or twice per year if I had to make reservations and then it likely wouldn't be worth the cost of an AP. If you have an AP, will you renew it if you have to make reservations for every visit?

I just hope they don't jack the price up of the flex pass. We were planning on getting flex passes once things are more open. We live out of state and would just be coming for a long weekend every month or so. I know all weekends are reservation only but once we confirmed a reservation we just plan on getting a cheap flight and cheap hotel near the park. I guess we will see.

Come on press conference!! I am two hours ahead of California and just waiting...We just need to hear the words that theme parks are able to reopen with proper COVID-19 procedures in place. That's all I want to hear today. (Hoping it happens, completely prepared to cry if it doesn't)

I am currently booked for October 25-31 through WDTC with a stay at The Tropicana. Fly in on Sunday, leave on Saturday, go to a park each week day. Checked with my daughter's school about if she would be expected or required to quarantine before going back to school if we took a trip during the school year. Answer is no, as long as our county/state doesn't have a mandate in place - which Wisconsin doesn't. Just have to rebook our flights once we know that the trip is a go!!

Come on press conference!!
Im on the east Coast with my first trip booked November 8th. 3pm cannot come fast enough!

Might have nothing to do with Disneyland but another good sign is Disney stock has been on a tear all week, especially today. Which might point to people who know more than us are expecting good news. Either way as a DIS share owner I am not complaining.

I think this has to do with movie theaters reopening and there was a new report about streaming today.

Nah, it’s just enjoyed the tear the whole market has been on this week.

Several different social media posts have shown that the entrances to the parks (gates, train station, etc.) have had their lights on. These have otherwise been off each night. And other areas of the parks are seeing lights turn on, like this example in Cars Land:
Hey! That was me/my husband that tweeted that! LOL. We are Anaheim Park Tourist. Thanks for posting. We watch the Mattercam nightly. Hadn't seen the lights on in Cars Land since July.:goodvibes

Club level rooms have been pulled from the booking system again.

(CL Saga recap: They were pulled completely for a day or two a couple months back, then (maybe at the same time?) DLH CL rooms were pulled but PPH & GCH remained and now all CL has been pulled.)
