Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

I got so excited thinking this was for OUR Magic Kingdom...Sigh.
Even though our trip is canceled, I'm hoping for some good news soon. We need a bright spot!

I get it! Even if I can’t visit right away when it does open, I love reading about the parks.. watching the Youtube videos, reading peoples posts here, etc. Just having it open is a bright spot in the universe.

Well... color me surprised. No official announcement of another week of cancellations, not even a blog whisper (? I think, there are too many blogs to follow them all 😂 ) The next line up for cancellations would be through 9/18 if they keep taking it one week at a time. All that said, don’t get terribly excited. When WDW was going through this once in a while the cancellations were pushed out on Friday.

We do have our own DISer here who had their DVC res cancelled for check in during those days but so far we haven’t seen or heard of anyone else (?)

Yes I've been watching WDW vlogs to make me happy. Still stinks my home park isn't open, but anything Disney makes me happy, so it will do for now lol

Almost 8:00PM and 9/18-20 wasn‘t cancelled. Maybe this means something.... maybe not. To quote Jim Carey, “so you‘re telling me there’s a chance?”

The lack of cancellations had me excited enough to book a trip for the first weekend of October. :) I do wonder if they were waiting to cancel (or not cancel) until after Newsom's press conference tomorrow.

That is my guess. And that has me thinking that they are feeling at least a bit optimistic about what will be announced tomorrow. Especially with other little signs like the lights coming back on throughout certain areas of the parks last night, hearing the Chairman of parks recent statements to media outlets about Disneyland being ready to open, etc.

I guess we will all have a much better idea by this time tomorrow.

Wait what lights?! 😍

The comments from Disney execs yesterday have definitely served to up pressure on CA. I don’t think it will change the government’s plan but I am surprised how widespread the “Disneyland is ready to open” news story went. USA Today, Fox Biz, numerous local outfits. Definitely went wider than the usual suspects of OCR and theme park blogs.
Legoland also decided to remind the Governor they are ready to reopen.

Come on press conference!! I am two hours ahead of California and just waiting...We just need to hear the words that theme parks are able to reopen with proper COVID-19 procedures in place. That's all I want to hear today. (Hoping it happens, completely prepared to cry if it doesn't)

I am currently booked for October 25-31 through WDTC with a stay at The Tropicana. Fly in on Sunday, leave on Saturday, go to a park each week day. Checked with my daughter's school about if she would be expected or required to quarantine before going back to school if we took a trip during the school year. Answer is no, as long as our county/state doesn't have a mandate in place - which Wisconsin doesn't. Just have to rebook our flights once we know that the trip is a go!!

Come on press conference!!

Maybe I am just a little overzealous here but I really think we are going to get guidelines and a date that the park can open today. I don't think all of these park execs would come out saying they were ready to open if California wasn't ready to announce something. You know all these park execs are talking to the government and people need to start working again / California needs the tax revenues from the theme parks.

You reminded me so I’m replying to you but this is for everyone with a potentially upcoming trip :)

DO NOT BOOK ANYTHING NON-REFUNDABLE. DLR has been very clear they will require park reservations. “But my hotel is not refundable” will not get you a park reservation if Disney is out when you get a chance to reserve your slot.

As someone whose job relies on tax revenue I’d love to see things get back to normal. But I honestly can’t see Theme Parks getting guidance yet. Many business in earlier stages have been forced to reclose or limit their activities to outdoors. These business will likely reopen with new guidance before Theme Parks do. I still say November is the optimistic time frame for reopening. Let’s see how people handle Labor Day gatherings/not gatherings. If we don’t see a large spike then we might see Theme Parks getting guidance if we do well maybe not.
