Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

Sanitizing rides is one thing I’m not doing. At some point I have to enjoy my trip and wiping down every ride would increase my stress levels to the point I wouldn’t travel. Everything is going to be cleaner than it has ever been + I believe those saying this is mainly a respiratory thing so I’ve toned down my surface worries.

HOWEVER- I wonder if Disney is accounting for operating slower? If even just one person every few rounds tries to wipe down their seat and area it’s going to delay the running of the attraction. And I really don’t feel like they can yell at that person to get in their seat as they normally would, that would end poorly 🤣 ...but it does mean rides will have to operate at a lower car capacity to account for longer loading times (I’m not picking on or judging you @mouschievous , LOVE the name btw, I’ve seen multiple people mention sanitizing ride vehicles before getting in them so I think it will be a thing we see).
I don’t think we will sanitize the vehicles themselves, but we will do hand sanitizer before and after the ride. My family is already used to me squirting sanitizer in everyone’s hands every ten minutes so shouldn't be too big of a change! 😂

@gottalovepluto no offense taken! We're all dealing with this in the way that works best for us. Right now I think I'll be doing a quick sanitation, but I also know I can do it quickly (wipe already out, wipe down the handlebar as I get in, done.) But part of that is because we're intended to be traveling with my higher risk parents (in their 70s) and I want to make sure we do everything we can to make them feel safer. If they don't travel with us, we may not wipe things down, just sanitize our hands after the ride.

And thanks for the love on the name ☺

I do the same! I swear I got the mumps at the parks years ago, before we had kids. So I am really picky about them washing often and using hand sanitizer after attractions.

@midnight star, we sanitize tables now too after we watched a guest changed her babies diaper on a table in the golden horseshoe. YUCK! 🤢

GROSSS

I'm for sure going to sanitize the tables. I did that pre-corona lol.

i have a full sanitizing kit which is a sandwich bag of Clorox wipes tucked into another bag of medical purple nitrile gloves. This is my pre-covid standard! DW got food, I sanitized the table.

But I really pack this because I took my now-DD6 (when she was DD3-6) with me to mens restroom stalls (or airline lavs) and I routinely have to do a full scrub down of the seat & surrounding area.

The skill of being able to remove gloves safely without touching your own skin also comes in handy in the above scenarios!

This popped up on my Disneyland app (Android) today on the screen where you view your AP with barcode. Not sure why since I have a Sig AP. I wonder what it means...

ETA: The "Learn More" takes you to the regular DL website with closure updates.

I clicked through anyway to try to make a reservation 😭

it’s like a wet paint sign on a fence and I still poke it, just to make sure

I will now always and forever sanitize the tables after reading all this. 😳 I should have before but I think my level of preparedness for things like that starts heading downhill by day three.

day one: coordinating outfits, supplies for every need and necessity, hair looks on point
day five: yoga pants for sleeping somehow became park wear, phone in pocket, wait where’d my hotel key go?

my motto in life (and in park) has always been: Trust No One

(::::whistles x-files theme::::)

Sharing this with my peeps who can appreciate the irony: heard from far too many people today that the parks are already open. This had to be true because "someone on FB" had already been to DL and posted all about it. When I pointed out that this was impossible (as a guest) because DLR's opening plan was a PROPOSAL which hadn't yet been ACCEPTED by the governor and appropriate committees, there was silence. Uh huh... sigh. :(

And do not drink from or refill water bottles from the regular drinking fountains in the parks. (Trust me. You think the diaper changing on the restaurant table was bad...) Use the filtered faucets at certain CS locations or the drinking fountains (filtered) at First Aid (those are clean -- I've asked the nurses repeatedly!).

Time to plant a flag over here. Had my second WDW DVC stay go poof yesterday (would have been a stay with relatives that are DVC but they gave up). So I'm leaving the WDW rumors thread behind. Need to go somewhere this year, so time to keep an eye on what happens at DLR. If things open up for new ressies, and park hopping is a go before the year is out, then I'll do a solo trip to DLR. Fingers crossed because my backup to my backup plan is UO. Never been there, but I may have no choice. :scratchin

As awesome as Harry Potter World is I hope you get to go to DLR :)

DLR hotel reservations are open. Might want to grab one if there is something specific you are looking at, they’re fully refundable until like 5 days out from your trip.

FYI to premier passholders, my pass just updated in MDE (no update on the Disneyland app yet). It added 125 days, which is long Disneyland will have been closed for. I did my premier pass upgrade at a Disneyland ticket booth for reference.

Thanks for the update. Mine is showing the same - extended in MDE, still the old date on the DL app and website.

We will be those people sanitizing the ride ourselves, probably, but mostly just like handlebars and stuff.

I did see that Shanghai has some shows and things back. They put boxes on the ground and a party/family can stand inside the box. The boxes are spaced for social distancing.View attachment 501813

Did anyone else notice the huge gaggle of people in the background? I'm guessing they are trying their best but obviously can only do so much.

Good catch! I did not notice that. It looks like they're at a gate of some kind, maybe? I did see a video sometime took during a show and there were cast members constantly monitoring it.

After going to our local zoo that reopened this week, even though much smaller than DLR, I had some thoughts on how this may all work. Besides timed ticket reservations, reduced capacity and certain indoor attractions closed, the main thing the staff seemed to enforce was traffic flow only allowed in one direction from place to place. Everything was one way with signs painted on all the walkways. Most people were compliant about masks and social distancing but groups that weren't, created bottlenecks by taking up all available space. The main indoor restaurant was closed. And another semi indoor restaurant outside seating only was available. Makes me wonder if DL will do something similar and keep the indoor only restaurants closed. Obviously the zoo is much smaller but has some things in common with large groups gathering places.

This is curious to me as it seems like the AP clock will restart on park opening, which is different from Shanghai.

My guess is it will be subject to additional extensions going forward, but this is something to watch for. IMO restarting the clock when capacity restrictions are in place opens DLR up to potential litigation, as previously discussed.
