Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

The long flight is what makes me hesitant. 5 hours each way means 10 hours in a closed in plane. I have a priced out trip to WDW for January, but that makes me nervous given that it's peak flu season at that time.
Yes. It makes us a bit nervous too. I’m not nervous about WDW. More about the flight. Going at flu season makes me most nervous mainly if someone gets sick and we cannot go into the parks. Then we are out a lot of money in flights and hotel. It’s a hard decision. But we mentally need a break at our happy place. Hoping that will be DLR....but if not WDW is our backup.

I noticed something interesting on the app-
Starting Oct. 4 it says “schedule unavailable” as opposed to “closed”. Mind you I haven’t been diligently checking but is this peculiar at all?

From the media event on 9/22/20, confirmation of DLR's reservation system. (Not news to most following here, but possibly news to newcomers.):

Been happening at various points the last several months. But it does always give a glimmer of hope :goodvibes

Ugh. I hope not exactly the same. This quote gives me a little hope they might make adjustments based on things that failed and just plain wouldn't work for DLR:

“Many of the lessons learned in Florida are already being adopted as we prepare for our reopening,”

I'm fully expecting APs to get screwed over, though. Following along with WDW has not instilled much confidence in me how they'll handle it all. But I'm still hoping they'll surprise me.

We should have been in WDW the last 2 weeks, but cancelled in July. I just could not get over the idea of 5 hours on a plane to WDW. We would have only considered Delta at this point since they have announced furthest out about keeping the middle seats open. I was in WDW the week before things got bad and flying home on 3/13 was a pretty nerve wracking experience knowing how bad things were starting to get at that point. I just am not ready to fly yet. I am now scheduled to go back to WDW in March and hoping things will feel more right then compared to now.

It's strange that there is no offer listed on the website, but when I check my December dates, I'd say that GCH and DL are down about 20% from what they had been. I never priced PPH, so I don't know about that one.
I'm not seeing a change for my Dec dates (14-17).

I laugh not at you- everyone’s concerns are equally valid- but at life because those are literally the two health things I’m least concerned about on my Nov FL trip 😂

( because of the hepa filtration system on the planes + flu being a no show across the Southern Hemisphere this winter)

I bought some park hoppers from UT right when Disney stopped selling them and at the time the expiration was around January 2022 so I figured I was safe. I was hoping to go to the parks on the July 17th opening, ha! I have them on my app but I don't see an expiration date. Is that normal?

Yes, mine don't show expiration in the app either.

DLR hotels cancelled through 10/10 per TA communication from Disney.

ETA: since some folks are seeing slightly lower rates at Disney hotels later this year it might be worth checking prices to see what an offer for later this year might math out at

Lol I was talking to my friends about my plans. When I mentioned I’m scared of the flight, my friend was all “but you’re not scared of FLORIDA?!” Mind you this was in July when they were open during the big spike in cases.

I have a history of getting sick after plane rides. Not severely, but just colds. When I flew last year For Thanksgiving I excessively wiped off the seat and tray and went crazy with the sanitizer. Thankfully didn’t get sick. Same with my trip to WDW in January. I cleaned every inch of the seat area. I even offered the random guy next to me a wipe and sanitizer 😂😂😂 So yeah planes make me nervous, especially right now.

Hahaha! I want to fly a middle seat away from you! Cleanest spot on the plane!

There's a lot of research to back up how efficient those filtration systems are too! I teach at a university so I have access to all these research databases so I pulled up all this scholarship on airplanes and those filtration systems to help ease my anxiety. Long story short- airplanes are actually much safer than most think when you're wearing masks! It's more the sitting in close proximity to folks that heightens the risk. That's why I'm thinking we'll sit in the back row so at least people aren't breathing on the back of our heads.

For those of you that live within driving distance, whole other story because why even risk it if you can just drive to DL. I'm hoping we get some news tomorrow, didn't someone mention how Friday announcements might be a good place for him to drop the news and then let it die down over the weekend? I was reading some comments on news articles about the Disney's press conference (mostly CA based) and was surprised to see how many people commented on how they shouldn't open. Chances are he is expecting pushback for giving the okay.

I'm seeing a lot of that on social media. I think people just equate Disney with crowds and don't have any understanding of the safety measures that will be in place.

Yes I finally read some comments and people think it's dumb that Disney is trying to open. But again, they have no idea the safety procedures in place, and how they are must stricter when it comes to masks, and distancing than the local grocery store.
