Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

Are we all agreed that my trip for October 7-9 cannot happen, even if they announced a reopening tomorrow? It's not enough time, right?

Thanks. I did talk to Disney Travel today. My most recent trip would have been 9-28 to 10-2. They have a new discount that just came out today. It runs Oct 16 to Dec 31. I was able to get that and thanks to you, I will get the $50 a night credit from the hotel when we check in. Thanks!
What percent is the new discount? Other than dates were there any restrictions?

From what has been said it will be 4 - 6 weeks once they get guidance for the parks to reopen. So it is very unlikely the parks will open by then even if they get guidance this week.

You sound like me. I just today canceled for the 3rd because I just kept hoping for them to announce something.

What’s everyone’s official guesses on park opening now?
I hope for October/November but am prepared for it not to open until January or February. Hopefully we’ll have a vaccine by then and people will feel more comfortable about their return to the park. Oddly, when it was first announced that DL would close for two weeks, I couldn't believe that I'd have to go an entire fourteen days without my usual Sunday restoration of my faith in humanity. Now that it's been closed for six months+ and my cycle has been broken, I'm far more stoic about the prolonged/indeterminate closure. I often try to remind myself to be thankful for all of my blessings but with this lockdown and the accompanying isolation, sometimes it's hard to stay upbeat -- and I'm usually a happy, gregarious and optimistic person. I imagine I'm not alone in my feelings.

Great question! I say October. It looks like things are "heating up" in the reopening dept. I'm seeing articles about Disney's meeting in quite a few places. Something has to give soon. Oops, I mean in the very near future. (soon is going to be considered a swear word on this forum pretty soon. oops, I said it again. Sorry.)

I don’t know much about Hong King Disneyland. But with this news, I wonder if that would put more pressure on Disney as a whole to reopen DL to makeup for the loss?

I agree. I’m thinking October-November. It’d be devastating if they can’t open for the holidays.

And honestly, people will keep just going to WDW which is taking much needed tax revenue and other business from the area. I already priced out WDW and if Disneyland is not open, we’re going there instead.

I think we'll get guidance in the next week or so, the governor isn't going to drag it out much longer IMO. I'm going to shoot for a first week of November reopening.

Sac has many outdoor locations with space where you can park cars and have a pretty press conference...

Yeah, and this is one of them. He likes to move around a lot.

I truly do not believe that it was even on his radar that those letters came from DL. Not saying that he doesn't KNOW that they are, but it's probably just one of those factoids that's lost in the back of his mind somewhere that he would only remember if you asked him directly about it. The idea that he would intentionally do this with the sole purpose of taunting Disney and its fans is just silly, IMHO, but people can believe what they want.

We have pushed our trip so many times! Actually just almost booked WDW for next week but we’re unhappy with our flight options (mainly carriers that are still selling the middle seat) so we decided not to go. We have a vacation at Xmas time and if DL isn’t open we will go to WDW. We have already decided.

The long flight is what makes me hesitant. 5 hours each way means 10 hours in a closed in plane. I have a priced out trip to WDW for January, but that makes me nervous given that it's peak flu season at that time.

Totally makes sense. We’d be flying into DL regardless so would make our 2 hour flight a 3 hour one instead. Still not great but at that point does it even matter if we’d be flying anyways?

I think I feel more secure about traveling to DL though just because I know it so so well if I feel overwhelmed in the parks I know my way around and where to hide out for a breather. Being familiar with your destination (at least for me) increases my ‘pandemic comfort level’ greatly. 😂 But then again, you can do the research and be a pro before you even arrive!

Still waiting for DL but knowing we have a backup plan has eased the suffering of the the corona-coaster for us!
