Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

Just got a notice that there is no school on 10/29 for parent/teacher conferences. Already knew there was no school on 10/30 due to fall break. Maybe this is a good sign that our trip that week will happen and my daughter will only miss three days of school instead of four???

I have not seen an official announcement either, but have seen two sources (which can't be linked here) report that it's an invite-only webcast and they will be reporting on it live. That makes me think 1) it's sent out to credentialed media and possibly other Disney-approved outlets and 2) if there is material information coming it needs to be held after 1:00 PM PT, unless they drop a press release before it begins. They can't make an announcement to a small invite group and let it trickle out to markets intra-day.

On a different Disney forum site, a member is a part of TWDC media team and was alerted for media/ press coverage to occur sept 22 as of a month ago. Even they didn’t know the details about it then, didn’t even know if it was related to/located in WDW or DL. They never confirmed what kind of event this would be, but the rumors plus that Information are pointing that this is solid info.

Boy I would love to be a fly on the wall during these meetings between Newsom and the parks. I wonder if they thought he was going to let them announce and he changed his mind. That is pure speculation on my part.

I can't even tell you how disappointing this is for me. Both my teenage children have been suffering badly from COVID depression and anxiety. They both need to have some light at the end of the tunnel. They need to be able to get out of the house and do something fun. I really needed some good news to try to keep motivations up.
I know we talk so much about protecting people from COVID, and that is critically important, but we also need to think about people who are suffering from severe mental health crises because of this or the people who are loosing their businesses or don't have any work. The economic and mental health fall out is going to be severe. We need to find a way to balance some of this.

This is how we’re feeling too. That’s why I decided to come crawling back to this horrible emotional rollercoaster. We need something to look forward to. It’s been so isolating. I imagine they will release guidelines soon- we just have to keep enduring the agony of waiting for news.

Are you in CA?

I’m in CA and we’ve taken a couple trips to the beach this year that have helped. Total change of scenery. If the regulations are getting to you think about a trip to NV or AZ. You can even dine indoors in those states.

I second this! I’m From NV and took a trip there to get a change of scenery!

According to the blocked site no announcement tomorrow per Disney regarding DLR opening date.
I'm all for speculation but that site definitively stating "Disney said" makes it sound like there was an official statement about this from Disney and there wasnt. I'm sure they have their "sources", but I still read it as a rumor. What's making the latter announcement more plausible is the fact that guidelines have yet to be released.

We have made 2 trips to Downtown Disney from northern CA. For us, it was worth it to just walk the area, visit the stores, meet up with family that is in the area for dinners, and just have a major change of scenery.

I had another friend do it with his 3 kids, I apologized when he got back because I talked him into going when it was so hot. He said it was GREAT, the kids loved swimming at the hotel, they all loved going to just wander around DTD, it was what they needed.

We have gone 3 times and are also from Northern CA. LOL. Haven't regretted it! ;)

I disagree, slightly This started silly and has since degraded into farce.

Oh, I have some better words but I was trying to avoid my sailor vocabulary. 😉

Either way you look at it, this is definitely going to pump up the pressure on the state. This rumor has exploded over the internet- not just here. So that’s gotta only help at this point.

Thanks everyone. We have been to DTD a couple of times. And it did help. I am going to take my son to see Empire Strikes Back at the theaters this weekend. We have talked about heading out to AZ for a trip, but didn't pull the trigger. Now everyone is back in school so going out of state will be harder to do. If Disney isn't open by Thanksgiving, then maybe we go then.
