The testing is good news though it’s mainly focused on winter as it won’t be on line for 2-2.5 months. The testing increase is promising and will help moving forward, especially if the turnaround time can improve.
I would agree that schools are more important than entertainment. However, I don't think that one depends on the other. They are very different things. Also there is the other aspect of "entertainment" things - employment! I'm not sure if saying that the employment of theme park personnel is less important that getting schools open is valid. If that was your job would you agree?I agree with you. I feel like it is more important to get the kids back in school than to open the theme parks.
Not to be negative but if we’re waiting on schools to reopen successfully for Disneyland to get the okay....then yikes. I work in education and it’s been a hot mess all over with many schools just going back to remote.![]()
But the WDW parks did open safely. Not really seeing her point...Carlye Wisel is a journalist whose articles on theme parks are in a variety of publications. Her tweets are often linked on DISboards. Carlye’s current Twitter thread regarding how the parks showcased their reopening is worth reading:
Personally I see nothing of interest here. “Don’t trust influencers!” Duh.But the WDW parks did open safely. Not really seeing her point...
Wow. He has the choice of not visiting if he's so against wearing a proper face covering. It's terrible his children had to see their father behave that way.Rteetz posted this on the WDW board.
Wow! Horrible! Whenever disneyland does reopen, I pray and hope nothing like this happens to any CM or security guard. If it does, hopefully charges get pressed.

I second this 100%. I really don't like the idea of a permanent reservation system. Countless times I've said to myself late in the evening "Hey, what about going to Disneyland tomorrow?" I would hate to lose that spontaneity that's part of the magic for me and, I daresay, thousands of others. I also don't like the possibility of not being able to go the park on for my regular Sunday visit. It's possible that would go away with a reservation system simply because I wouldn't be able to get one. I remember the insanity of the SWL opening reservation system. I don't want to see that sort of thing become part of the regular DL experience. I also know several people who visit the park multiple times per week. Is DL trying to do away with that? Many people on this board know of Peter "The Clapper Guy" Tu who goes to DL everyday (or nearly). A reservation system would likely put an end to guests such as him.I know some, or maybe even most people may like the reservation system since it makes crowds lighter at the parks. For me personally it’s not good at all.
Guilty, right here. I love the reservation system because it makes the crowd level predictable. I remember going to DHS before COVID on a night EMH day - the crowd was OK, then around dinner time it got to be unbearable. Those people were coming from somewhere, and it got to the point where I would just avoid the EMH parks altogether. That's not right - it's supposed to be a perk for on-site guests, and it really made things worse. That needs fixing. DO you end EMH (Where is the added value of staying on property then?) or do you end park-hopping (lots of people love that - I get it, not worth it for me though), or maybe a park reservation is the way to go (pick a park, that's it, you can hop if there's space and you get a reservation for that too).I know some, or maybe even most people may like the reservation system since it makes crowds lighter at the parks. For me personally it’s not good at all. I get using it during a pandemic cause they really have to limit crowds for everyone’s safety. But I hope that at some point when Covid is over, they get back to having at least one pass that allows you to visit whenever you want. As a local part of the fun is the spontaneity of a Disney parks visit. Whether that means stopping by the parks after work or just having the ability to hop from one park to another. At Disneyland and WDW the parks experience would be greatly diminished if they keep the current system in place for good. Of course that’s just my opinion.
A park reservation system may make crowds predictable but I doubt it will lessen them. Certainly it's to DL's advantage to have as many guests in the park as possible. The more guests, the more churros they sell so I don't see them limiting that. A park reservation system won't change their capacity (in a post-COVID world). Perhaps it will help them manage staffing better, although I suspect that they've had that nailed down for years already.Guilty, right here. I thought he moved to Orlando. Can you check using Google?I’m in the midst of writing a letter to Josh D’Amaro now to voice my opposition to a permanent park reservation requirement. Now: he didn’t say specifically that it will be a permanent change but it’s implied (or at least it’s easy to infer that). Does anyone know if he’s still at the Burbank headquarters?
He’s back and forth with the new role, but I believe his main office is Burbank.I thought he moved to Orlando. Can you check using Google?
Maybe @WonkaKid can send a copy of his letter to both offices, just to be safe. Or just send an email? He’s back and forth with the new role, but I believe his main office is Burbank.
