Disneyland Reopening Speculation Superthread

Something I just though of today as I made a visit to DTD, when the parks are open I wonder how they’ll set capacity (parks and dtd) as most of us have to go through dtd to get to the esplanade. I wonder if they’ll make a second checkpoint where the old dtd security used to be for park goers to visit dtd.

Just a guess . . . by the time the parks open the restrictions for DTD won't be so strict. They will likely still go by the DTD parking lot and the "relaxed" numbers will come from the parks.

I'm currently holding a reservation at the VGC for Labor Day. I'm really on the fence about keeping this reservation. I know there is no holding right now, so that's good, I just can't decide if I should throw in the towel. It's so frustrating and hard to navigate traveling with Covid-19 :(
I'm still holding onto my VGC reservation for Labor Day weekend too. At this point I'm wishing that Disney will open up the hotel (or at least the villas) since other timeshares are operating in Anaheim. Even a weekend of takeout from DTD & time at the Grand would be great.

I was actually going to ask which disability would protect you under the ADA act for not wearing a mask! Turns out there isn’t one!
ADA does not exempt the disabled from wearing a mask; rather, it requires that essential businesses provide an alternative for disabled customers who cannot wear a mask, e.g. a grocery store providing curb side pick up or delivery service. But DLR is not "essential" like a grocery store, so ADA does not apply to them the same way in this case.

So does the county think there is protection under ADA? Hopefully OC knows better so that when DL opens people will be wearing masks. Also, please let that be soon! ºOº
I don’t know!!!! Maybe @disneychrista or @theluckyrabbit know.... I’m assuming the county either doesn’t know or doesn’t want to test it???? Disneyland is a private business.... can they refuse entry to people who refuse to wear masks allegedly under the ADA?
Disney already does not allow exceptions for those who claim they cannot wear a mask. USO does grant exemptions -- disabled guests wear a special wristband -- but WDW has said that there are no exemptions to the mask rule. It is expected that DLR will do the same.

This is very interesting. Thanks for the explanation!

Perhaps DL/DCA guests will park in the M&Fs structure and will only be allowed in with a confirmed reservation whereas those bound for DTD will be directed to the Simba lot (as they are now).

Sorry mods, I know this is off topic, but I’m addressing the comments about people being being hesitant about coming to San Diego because it’s not safe, and that’s just NOT true. I won’t say another word!

Omg San Diego is safe. We live here. I personally would avoid places like Mission and Pacific Beach. We’ve been to the zoo. Didn’t see a single person without a mask. The only places people don’t wear masks are on the beach, so if that makes you uncomfortable, don’t go to the beach...

Off topic, as well. But I will reiterate what was said above. We live in the city and have found mask compliance to be very, very high. My daughter is currently in the Junior Lifeguard program in Mission Beach. From my observations of being down there every day, I’d say the majority of visitors wear masks when walking from their cars to the beach and then take them off once they have picked a spot. About 50% of people walking/biking/skating on the boardwalk wear them. I usually run on the boardwalk and keep my mask around my wrist and place it against my face when I approach people, which usually prompts those not wearing their masks on their face to do the same.

All other areas of San Diego, non-mask wearing is uncommon. I’ve been very impressed with my city lately.

Another quick evening trip to DTD. Got there around 5:40pm. There was a small line for temperature check. Got through very fast. There was a slight back up when we had to pass the dog but it was under 10 minutes.

World of Disney had a super short wait! They have very limited amount of XL masks in stock. Only in the Mickey Mouse print. Something different I noticed is that with the masks, they had them labeled by sizes. Before, they were just all on a rack so if you had search and touch the masks to find your size. They also has them in different spots throughout world of Disney so it cut down on people bunching up around them. I also saw an adorable Kevin backpack!

Mask enforcement is great! They are already enforcing the no valve rule. I saw a guy walking to the temperature check with one and the CM said they aren’t allowed, but he assured the guy they have some on hand. Thankfully the guy had an extra in his stroller and put it on, so crisis averted! I Also saw CM’s reminding people to cover their noses. And inside World of Disney a lady took her mask off for a picture, and a CM quickly went over to her to have her put her mask back on.

Took a few pics. I got take out from Ballast Point and took some while I waited.

The tiki print and there is also a Tomorrowland/space mountain one that are new, they did not have those on Saturday.

We are planning to head over to Downtown Disney Thursday around 3pm... if anyone has anything they’d like to check on, let me know. (If it’s very crowded, we’ll bail... hoping that’s not the case on a Thursday.)
I hope you can share a report! I’m contemplating going next week for my birthday.

An early Happy Birthday to both of you AND a very, merry UnBirthday to you today, too! (And a very, merry UnBirthday to the rest of us!) :)
Thank you! I love this because you just inspired me. My littlest one (18 months) couldn’t have birthday cake on his first birthday due to food allergies, but he recently just passed enough foods to have a real birthday cake! So I think maybe we will have to have an UnBirthday party for him and let him eat some cake! ❤️

Hooray for cake! :)
