Disneyland recent price increases

I'm shocked at how much Disneyland has raised their ticket prices. We are lucky we're taking a vacation in February 2024 and not April 2024.

I ran the numbers. We purchased reseller tickets at 2023 prices, and were able to also take advantage of the $50/day kids ticket special. For 4 adults, 2 kids9+ and 3 kids4-9, PH and Genie+, we paid $3,904 for our tickets.

If we buy the same exact tickets now for an April 2024 vacation - 2024 prices and no kids special - these same tickets cost $6,215.

That's $2,311 more for April 2024 - or a 60% increase.

If our vacation was in April, if we wanted the same number of days, we could either pay 60% (or $2,311) more or remove all PH and Genie+ and the price would be very similar - $3991. Just a 2% (or $87) increase. The latter is what we'd probably be forced to do.

All this after Iger said on February 8, 2023: "It is clear that some of our pricing initiatives were alienated to consumers. I have always believed that accessibility is a core value of the Disney brand. We were not perceived to be as accessible or as affordable to many segments, as we probably should have been. After basically paying heed to what we are hearing, we started to address it and the steps that we took were actually were very, very positive. We got really, great reactions to it. "

I agree. Totally ridiculous. Fortunately, we also bought the same tickets you did for our 2024 trip, but I think our days at DLR in the future are numbered.

Oooof, that IS a big increase!

If you have not done so, I would look at 3rd party ticket resellers for a better price. I don't think I can name any here but there is one that we have used in the past and I just checked your tickets and the price I found there was a little lower, $5829.00US, still really high but a few hundred less than your posted cost.

Still, $3900 to $5800 is a huge difference! I did use a 3rd party ticket reseller, initials are the same as University Texas.

It sure is a huge difference.

The reseller I found that amount at was a different one.

You can say Undercover Tourist/UT here again.

If you type out the full name or web address it'll show asterisks if you can't say the name here.

Ok but how much is it using the previous kids prices and not a discounted offer? It doesn't seem accurate to compare discounted tickets to regular priced ones.

You wouldn't compare the Cali resident tickets with 2024 priced ones. It's not an accurate comparison.

Crowds are still insane. Special events still instantly sell out. There's more room for upwards pricing and honestly, at least at Disneyland, I kind of wish they would do it.

Bob clearly isn't afraid of high prices... ILL alone shows that. I need to add up what I spent on it for a friend and myself during a 3 day trip and then what I spent alone as I stayed another three days, but I would not be surprised if it was over $250 and maybe over $300. They work fantastically well (as long as the attraction doesn't go down, then you get a pretty big backup) and I LOVE waiting maybe four minutes for Rise, probably five minutes for Runaway Railroad, and maybe 10 minutes for RSR (again, when it hasn't been down for the prior two hours), but WOW does it add up, and I was a party of two or solo.

Honestly if Indy had been an option I probably would have spent another $120 with my friend and I doing that once each of our three days.

I just hate 50-70+ minute lines. Even Pirates during my trip was above 50 minutes more than a handful of times. I almost NEVER skip Pirates any of the days and will often do it twice, but my early October trip, while very manageable and enjoyable, was VERY crowded. Without the three days, without the fact that my friend and I are very flexible and only have a couple MUST DO rides, and were there together in late 2019, and the fact that I was willing to open the wallet for Genie+ (not factored into my cost above) and ILL, it would have been frustrating.

I know I'll get blasted, especially from large families, but I would rather pay more to get into the parks and have manageable crowds with 25 to 40 minute waits instead of having to pay an extra $50/person to get Genie+ and a single ILL.

Ok, it's been a long day and will admit to being lazy but what was the 2023 price vs the new 2024 price of $555 per adult for 5 days with a hopper?

It’s an accurate comparison. Same tickets, different dates.

I'm comparing tickets and deals that anyone can get - not California resident or military tickets.

It sucks but I am still going in Jan 2024.

Who's with me!?!?
Right there with you!

Honestly, I'm making our next trip out of this world expensive. Park tickets to me still aren't astronomical, (just north of $100/day with a hopper per person). We're skipping Genie+ because we're doing 5 days with our 1yr old for her first birthday, so we won't be in any hurry for any ride. Surprising my wife with GCH because the birth was a bit traumatic and we want to create happier memories around the day, (she won't know until our shuttle pulls up - she thinks we're staying at candy cane inn).

Park ticket prices? Meh. They are definitely more expensive than before, but when I break down how much we get from them I'm alright with it. Disney Hotel prices? Oh lord... this may be a once in a lifetime kind of trip for us.

When you look at it from a different vision every time Disneyland increases prices for their tickets it's traditionally during the springtime because when you have Spring holidays such as Spring Break and Easter that's when Disneyland begins it's annual ticket price jump because Spring is the busiest time for Disneyland because that's when they make the most money. But why they have started having kids tickets is something i'll never know because once a kid turns 10 they are considered adults and infants and children under 3 have always been free at Disneyland and what I think Disneyland is trying to do is gonna start charging kids tickets based on age of the kids and they will do the same with infants and toddlers too because as I said before what makes infants free at Disneyland? Do guests get unlimited use of the Baby Care Centers in the park? But as a new year comes along we start to hear complaints from longtime Disneyland fans about ticket price increases but once events such as Oogie Boogie Bash and Christmas events start happening that's when the prices for tickets suddenly raise. But I think it was the stuff such as After Hours events and the chance to enter the park in the mornings really caused the Disneyland ticket price increases and as I mentioned before Disneyland needs to LOWER ticket prices to really improve themselves well

For our trip where the tickets are costing us $3900 - with all the people in our party, we are buying a total of 32 days of tickets, including park hopper and genie+. So $122 per day isn’t too bad, I guess. If we removed the Genie+, the tickets would be less than $100 per day.

That is not the point and you know it.

I can compare the Target Trip Advisor priced tickets 2023 and 2024 disney priced ones and say tickets have gone up by 37%! It will be inaccurate, disingenuous and it's untrue.

The point is comparing sale prices vs normal prices is not accurate. And that is what you are doing by comparing the 50$ a day offer with a normal priced ticket. Now if next year there is a 60$ kids offer deal, THEN you can say the deal had a 10% increase. But right now it's apples vs pears.

That's what I am talkin' about!!!!

We are like two brothers from a different mother because I would plan something exactly like what you are doing.

You gotta do a trip report, would love to hear about her reaction about staying at GCH and the rest of the trip.

Cheers!
