Disneyland Questions, please help.

Exactly how easy is it to walk from the CandyCaneInn to DL and DCA? Keep in mind we have 3 kids. I decided to bring my 13 yrold brother. We like the idea of not having to pay for parking. And if its not so easy or close the the actual park gate, is it a long wait for the shuttles, (for those who have stayed at the CCI.)

That Sunday that we are there, it will be my fiance's bday. Are there any freebies or tips?

Meal Vouchers? Can we buy these for DL? And if so, were is the list of restuarants they can be used at? If not, are there any tips for saving money? I know about going to Wal., Tar., Kmart, etc to buy water, snacks, fruit but, while in the park, are there any good meals at good prices? (we are not looking for any fancy/adult dining, its all about an impressive fun time for all of us) ANYTHING pleassssee?

We are already over budget. I originally wasn't planning on my brother, which made us need an extra ticket, minivan (since that makes 6 of us bro and father), extra ticket and extra extra food. Any deals or money saving tips are greatly appreciated.

On that note: Anything free at the parks and for a sightseeing day around Los Angeles, anything free or close to free to do?

Flyingcircus- what disc. are you talking about? I don't have an annual pass, I'm looking to get resident tix since my father lives in Los Angeles. Could you maybe answer some of the questions above, and explain what disc. you was refering to? Thanks a bunch!

AmEx used to offer a 10% discount on some of the restaurants at DL. They do not anymore, as they are no longer the offical card of Disneyland. If you have an Annual passport, you do get discounts- they vary according to which type of passport you hold. I don't think you will receive any discount with the resident type discount.

If you are going to California Adventure DO NOT miss Aladdin at the Hyperion theatre. It is AWESOME!!!!! Make sure you pick up your tickets as soon as you get in the park (free), as the show fills up fast!

jmungia,

Try posting your Candy Cane Inn question as a new subject on this board since you're not getting any response with this thread. I know there are plenty of people whom have stayed there on this board so I would think you'd get a better response to that particular question if it were in the subject line.

As far as food goes I have a few suggestions.

Packing your own snacks is a great idea. Even a loaf of bread and pb&j for the younger ones (or adults if they like it) is a good thing to keep in the hotel room. We bought some of those microwave mac and cheese for the room too and the kids liked them. Pasta anytime has a bunch of varieties and they don't have to be refiged. Pack a cooler and use the picnic area is a great suggestion.

However, if you don't want to eat your meals in the hotel room/ pack them to the park. Here are my suggestions.

In the parks, many meals can be shared. Red Rockets Pizza Port has great pasta. It is huge. So were their salads. My sister, my daughter 3 yrs, nephew 2 yrs and I shared the Chicken Fussil pasta and a Oriental Chicken Salad. Cost was 15.00w/ my AP discount and we had left overs.

Plaza Inn has a chicken dinner for 10.99 that is 3 pieces of chicken, mashed potatoes w/ gravy, and vegies and a roll. This fed my husband and daughter. They also have a garden salad for 2.95 that was quite large.

The pizza place in DTD, Naples, has a take out window for 5.00 you get a large slice of pizza and a soda. The pizza was shared by my girls. It was the size of the plate.

In my opinion, the best deal by far is White Water Snacks. It is the pool cafe in the Grand California. It's nest to the pool/restrooms. There is a private entrance to DCA for the Grand California guest and it is near that entrance. Any one can use the DCA exit and eat at White Water Snacks. They have fountain drinks, 7-11 style refrig. that have can/bottle soda, juice, gatorade, iced tea..., they also have deli style sandwiches, salads in the cooler, pb&J sandwich with a delicious Mickey Mouse cookie and a juice box for 4.95. They have a limited grill menu, but the items are very good. The kids meal chicken fingers are 5.95 3 white meat chicken fingers, w/ fries and a soda. I ordered this 3 times and it filled me each time. My daughter ate the pb&j They also had hamburgers and chicken sandwiches on the adult grill menu.

Nice thing about White Water Snacks is everytime we were there, we were about the only people there. You can sit outside and see DCA. It is well shaded, close to DCA and even thought the signs say the DCA entrance near it is only for GC guest, we had no problems go back and forth.
