Any idea when DLP will begin booking for January? They are only taking DVC reservation up until 11/7/11 right now.

If you are going in January, it may be way cheaper to just pay cash.
Depending on your party; January through March always has kids (through 11) stay free.

I got a weekend package for february 2012; 2 nights with 3day hoppers for 2 adults + 2 kids at Newport Bay for only 402 euro's (through Expedia.BE)

The (dot)NL or (dot)com sites may have different prices, but it says nowhere that you have to reside in those countries to book there.

I would not use my DVC points there, especially during jan-march period.

I just got an email from DLP this morning about specials thru Christmas so I would think January would be open soon. They certainly don't operate anything like the US Parks. But I agree - don't use your points - they are a terrible value there!! Sign up on the DLP website for emails & watch for a cash package deal. And note that regardless of how you book they will require you to purchase "length of stay" park tickets. So if you're planning on also going into the city for some sightseeing you'll be wasting a day or so of park passes if you spend your entire trip onsite.

We just came back from Europe last week. I WAS originally going to book with points until I figured out what a terrible deal they were there (esp. in summer and with having to purchase park tix on top). I ended up booking in early Feb. last year for our August trip on a 30% off sale. I didn't want to waste money on park tickets that we wouldn't be using every day because we also wanted to sightsee in Paris so we spent our 1st & 2nd days (1 night) on site so we could get the EMH's and then we moved hotels and went into the city for 3 nights at the end of our 2nd day. That gave us basically 2 full days for the parks & 2 full days for Paris before we went to Barcelona for our DCL Med cruise. It worked out pretty good and 2 days was enough time to see everything we wanted to see at DLP. We would've liked to have had time to ride Crush's Coaster a 2nd time but it doesn't have a FP and the line was about 90-120 minutes long. That was our only regret really. We rode Space Mountain about 3x, Tower of Terror 2x, RNR 2x etc.

But seriously, book with cash - they usually offer some sort of package deal. Rent or transfer your points if you need the money.

The price we found for the Disneyland Hotel Paris is $1670 for 2 nights with tickets, two adults, no kids. Points are 55 per night plus $95 and we have to buy tickets. We can't rent 110 ponts and cover the cost of Disneyland Hotel. We'll be elsewhere in Paris for 5 nights, planned 2 nights at DLP then off to Rome for 4 nights. Of course if we stayed in a different resort it'd be around 26 points a night plus tickets or around $800.
We'll continue to look for a better package as advised but with the number of points we have banked plus current points we're thinking that using the prepaid points option puts more cash in our pocket for the other things we spend money on while on vacation.
As always, we know that the best use of our points would be to use them at a DVC resort. We used them for the cruise once, not the best deal but it worked for us.

I just tried the .be expedia site and the price came to $1026 with breakfast and tickets......that is a better deal then points. Thanks for the tip.

Ahhh...you're going for a nicer hotel. We knew we'd only be crashing for 1 night and that we'd be out late in order to see it all in 2 days so we just booked the Hotel Cheyenne. No frills for sure but adequate for 6-7 hours of sleeping & a shower. I think our package (room & 2 days of tix) & breakfast for 3 people was about $510 USD. And that was in August which is a peak season for them. I think they wanted something like 38 points a night for the Sequoia Lodge & I just couldn't bring myself to waste that many points + the $95 fee AND the park tix on top which would've been another nice chunk. Glad you were able to find a better deal.

While we are really glad that we went DLP is "Disney Lite" as my DH called it. While it's a pretty park the CM's do not provide the same Disney Magic as the ones in the states. There is just something missing (they could use some training in FL)!! And being that it's Europe everybody smokes all over the place without regard for smoking areas or children. Even in the lines they smoke.:sad2: It's likely because DLP is not really owned & operated by Disney - it's like a franchise or something. That's why the DVC point values suck - they just won't negotiate much with Disney on them. Anyway, have fun! It's a new experience and exciting to see at least once in your life to be able to say that you've been!!!

Agree with the above...and yet some things about the parks are really well done. I love the fantasyland area and the Nautilus themed "space mountain". We loved the Toy Story rides!

A definite bucket list item!

I completely agree with this. We only go to get our Disney fix, but rather go to the US.
But the airfare is killing us!!

Just to let you know, Expedia has a 40%off sale right now. (no I don't work for them)
I priced a weekend in january 2012 (20-22 jan) at the Disneyland Hotel 2 nights for 2 adults including tickets and breakfast for 719 euro's total (current rate 1025 USD)

Disneyland Hotel is a wonderfull Hotel. It looks like the Grand Floridian, but it is situated at the entry of the park.. In comparaison to WDW, it is like if the hotel would be where the train station is at MK !

From your room, you can watch the park and the firework like if you would be right in the park !

The turnstile the people use to enter in the park are just under the hotel.

You cannot have an hotel closer to heaven than this one ! :cloud9:
