Disneyland Paris - is there such a thing as a bargain trip?

I have been looking at prices for me and DH maybe for our 2nd Wedding Anniversary, but the prices always come back so high.

Anyone got any tips on a budget trip to DLP? :confused3

Hi

I would check out the DLP board on here. They maybe able to offer some tips and websites.

Personally I have never found DLP to be that cheap and would certainly not pay the prices I have been receiving.

The only thing I found cheaper was if we stayed off site and perhaps drove there instead of using euro star. The tickets are expensive so I found we only saved £150 doing it this way. To be honest I didnt look into depth as I put off with the prices.

If you desperately wanted to go then great, but in my opinion its not worth the money especially if you have been to WDW.

Take a look and price up a 3 night stay in DLP and 7 night stay in WDW. We found the prices were comparable and at least this way your gaurenteed better weather, better atmosphere, much more for your money.

If not think of a weekend away to City Break in Europe. You can get some great prices.

Hmmmm - good point!

This happended to me and my Mum once!
We were gonna go to NYC for 3 nights and ended up going to WDW for a week!!

Hi Tink78 and welcome over to the DLP DIS board :wave2:

When is it that you are looking to visit DLP ? Have you thought about the off-site options as well as possibly the 2 star resort hotels?

There are a few ways to reduce the cost depending what is important to you. :)

I don't know really, it's probably not even possible, as we are trying to pay our loan off as we want to start a family soon, but I know we cannot afford to go back to WDW, and we won't go there again until we have a family of our own, and I just can't stand the thought of staying away that long so I thought maybe a little DLP fix might be just what the doctor ordered!! :rotfl2:

Our Wedding Anniversary is on the August Bank Holiday weekend so prob a really expensive time to go away, what with it being a BH as well as the Summer Hols.

When's the cheapest time of year to go to DLP (not this side of Summer though!)?

Maybe we could stay in Paris, somewhere near the train station, and could get the train into DLP each day.

Any help would be appreciated, as I would love to suggest this trip to DH, knowing that we could possibly afford it, rather than it being way too much money.

Have a look at the Holiday Inn website since they have an off-site hotel and often have special internet rates.

It is nice to plan for a bit of a Disney fix :)

Found it - it looks lovely too!
Thanks.

4 nights for about £175 for the both of us, plus if we drove and took the ferry over from Dover to Calais, that was only working out as about £85 total.

So £260, plus petrol, insurance, theme park tickets and food and spending money whislt we are there.

Have I forgotten anything else?

Glad that sounds much more reasonable.
If you have any new questions regarding planning might be an idea to start a new thread as I'm sure more people will jump in to help :)

If you order early enough (about 3 months in advance) and off season you can have a room at the Holiday Inn hotel for something around 60 euro. Not to bad I would say... All you need now are tickets and the fun can begin...

If you go 3 days or longer Annual Passes are the best option as every person will get a 20% discount voucher to eat (so if you're two, you can eat twice with a 20% discount) and 20% discount on Merchandises (for one day) and all year round you'll get 10% on food and merchandise...

Have fun.

If your driving Tolls? Not sure how much they cost. This would be something to check out. If I remember rightly after wathcing a holiday programme the tolls can be expensive.

If I remember correctly it was under 20€ each way just under 19€ I think.

Coffee machines in all the motorway services offer a cup for 1€.

Another possible saving is doing a booze cruise on the way back at Calais.

Depending on your insurer they may offer free cover in Europe for upto a few weeks a year.

Agreed. Florida, actually worked out cheaper per day than DLP for us.

A few times we have thought about it, but it can only be a let down after WDW and Disneyland.

I went before I was married and loved it, but not sure I could go back unless I had an American holiday lined up.

Now I'm biased because I love DLP - but the way I look at it is ... "It's a trip to Disney" :teeth:

I was always very reluctant to visit DLP after having been to WDW but after a little "persuasion" from my friends on here :rotfl: I went and absolutely fell in love with the place. Agreed, it is not WDW or Florida, but it is Disney with all the Disney magic and I think Sleeping Beauty Castle and Disneyland Park are even more beautiful than their WDW counterparts.
There is no way we can afford (time as well as money) to go to WDW every year at the moment and by visiting DLP we are able to immerse ourselves in Disney magic without having to wait too long between trips!
Tink, I really hope you can sort a trip out. Ask away if you need any more help. :wizard:

I really wasn't keen after going to WDW numerous times, however we love DLP. It has a different feel about it, but is still magical (and it isn't so far away!!!). In fact I am trying to work out when I can take Baby Evie for her first trip! :teeth:

Yeah, I like DLP too.
We have been there 3 times before.

Went once for a day trip (that was really tiring!!), once for 4 nights with my bestie mate, and once with bestie mate and our fellas.

Not sure if DH is convinced on it yet, cuz of money.

And I think the driving is putting him off.... has anyone driven there from Calais before?

Is it hard, and how long should it take?

Oh I remember DD's first trip well. You'll treasure those photographs and memories for ever :goodvibes

We've driven from Calais and Zeebrugge and it really is not bad. The toll roads are great. You just need to see the amount of day-trippers on the ferry to see how many keep coming back :)
You can do the drive in around 3 hours. We are always about another 1/2 hour as the troops need a rest stop ;)
