Hi Laura

Thanks for getting the quotes. I dont think they will be able to accomodate Bruce and I and our 3 kids though. We need a family of 5 room.

I dont mind if others want to book there it sounds like a great deal and Bruce and I can stay else where and meet you all at the dis meet :confused3

Thanks for the quotes I am sure they would be fab for others.

Good idea for emailing them but the rate is really not special considering the need to book 10 rooms.

The rates on the Dreamcastle are cheaper then the offer from Holiday Inn and it removes the need to book 10 rooms.

The Movenpick & The Explorers are next to each other so I think it might be nice if we pick these two then people can choose.

Just been on Expedia and some of the hotel rates they are offering for this weekend are:

15th to 17th June, 2 nights, family room:

EXPLORERS HOTEL : £256.38 (6 person cabin crew room)
KYRIAD : £ 238.48
L'ELYSEE VAL D'EUROPE : £ 189.66

The Dream Castle doesn't seem to have released rates yet, neither have the actual disney hotels. Still reasonable prices :thumbsup2

hi guys, not entirely sure if i'm coming or not.....solo WDW is soooooooooooo tempting...i'm just waiting for an amended quote back from TCD and if it's not too much more than what i was paying before then I think i'm just gonna go for it....after all you only live once, and after the shocking month i've had I think i'll deserve it by June!!

I think if it was me i would go solo to WDW. I had a chance to walk around by myself for a couple of half days while I was there in August and it was really great to stop where I wanted and to look for the hidden detail without worrying about someone else. You will get to talk to people and you will take it in so much more. Hope you get a good quote :wizard:

Good luck with your quote, I am in a simillar position, I want to take dd who will be 5 to wdw and it looks like it will just be me and her and dbf does not want to go and my sister will be in year 13 and is already having some days off in september to come on holiday with us. The only thing is that it is only a couple of hundred cheaper as virgin charge full adult price for her if there is only one adult! I can understand for the hotel however they are also charging adult price for the flight! sorry to go OT.

Hi

Good luck with your holiday plans. I would definately go to WDW alone IMHO.

We have some good prices to look at. I tried to contact Disney.co.uk just to see if they would give us any deals on disney hotels, still no luck. I will get dh to call reservations to get some quotes, Bruce thinks its Davey Croquett where we get 30% off in June. The only prob with Davey Croquett they do not offer transport and for those using Euro Star it not ideal. We will see what they say on Sat.

Maybe not that special but the standard price for a double with breakfast is 156 euros for those dates as opposed to 130 euros per night.

I dont really mind where i stay but i will not stay at the castle hotel as ive had 2 awful stays there, i dont want to risk it being "third time lucky" :goodvibes

Hi

Oh no Laura its horrible when you have horrible accomodation it can really spoil your holiday.

I think we have chosen the weekend 15-17th June. I think Claire and I will be staying for 3 nights from the 14th. Bruce wants to see Paris this time.

Personally for me we will have to stay in the Explorers or Davey Croquett due to family size. I really dont mind if you all booked where ever is cheaest for you and we meet you at the meets.

I thought we could perhaps have a meet at Rainforest and somewhere like Innoventions or Cafe Mickey and have some drinks at either the bar at Rainforest. Or skip Rainforest and book a table at Wild Bills is it? and a character meal or just the one.

Thats interesting thanks for the warning.

Is there a trip report for these or can you give a few details as there seems to be a few positive opinions about the place.

There will always be positives and negatives about any place, and i really dont mean to put anyone off at all, just my opinion!

I didnt do a trip report as these were both before i discovered the disboards(cant imagine what i did with my life then!)

First trip was over Xmas 2004 - checked in on Xmas eve - around lunch time ish. We had booked 2 deluxe family rooms we were travelling with friends who had 3 kids, therefore one would be sleeping in our room. When we got to check in they just gave us our room keys and we went up to the room. Well the room was tiny, with just the one bed init. We phoned down to reception and said we had booked a family room - they said "that is a family room". I didnt argue at this time as i went off to see my friends room which was also meant to be a family room. Well hers was much bigger with another bed, so oviously a family room. We went down to reception where my friend (she speaks french) complained. They then said that they had double booked the room and had to put us in a normal room - now i wouldnt have minded this IF they had bothered to tell me at check in or if they had actually apologised about it! not once did they actually say sorry for the mix up! For the rest of the stay we found the staff very rude and abrubt. I just put this down to the time of year and them being busy etc.

When i got back home, i put a complaint into my travel company regarding the change in room and i said i want the difference between a standard room and the one id paid for refunded. They phoned the hotel who then said i was in a deluxe room and therefore would not refund anything. Because i never thought to take a picture of my room they were not prepared to refund the money. I took it up with Abta in the end, and did get the money refunded, but it was the hassle!!

The second time was a mid week girls only trip, checked in fine, no problems. Got to the rooms and in my friends room, in the bathroom there was water all over the floor and towels laying over the water soaking it up. We assumed there was a leak and they were obviously aware of it, my friend phoned down to reception and said can i change rooms. They said there were no normal rooms available and unless she wanted to pay to upgrade she would have to stay where she was. She was reluctant to pay so asked that they come up and clear up the mess and try to sort out the leak. They did clean the mess up but by the next morning there was water over the floor again so they obviously hadnt fixed the leak. We complained again they still said she would have to pay to move rooms as only deluxes were available. So she ended up sleeping in my room for the last night - even though she was paying for a room herself.

Im sure the hotel is fine, we probably just were unfortunate and had 2 bad experiences there, im just not that happy to risk it again for the sake of £20 or so extra.

Michelle - i might make it a longer trip too, id love to go to Paris for a day, and hit Calais on the way home! The meets sound great! i love the rainforest!

Laura,

Thank you very much for the info, helps with decsions.

I know the hotel was sold to Vienna but I think its still the same management in the hotel.

Still tempted by this hotel, I've allways wanted to stay though.

Just a heads up, you all might want to check out:
www.leger.co.uk

I just did a quote for me and the 3 kids and it came to £696. This was 3 nights, park tickets included at Hotel Cheyenne, Eurostar travel. Because I am a single adult I had an £80 supplement so you might want to go on there and get a quote just to see. For some reason, Explorers is £10 more. They are also offering group discounts, so go get a quote and see if you think its reasonable. :thumbsup2

Hi

I forgot to phone resevations re discount. I will call them tomorrow. Bruce wants to perhaps camp again. I cant believe it. We are desperate to get back to WDW Oct 07 so any savings for us would be great. I will get some prices from Disney tomorrow.

Those prices from leger look good Claire. :thumbsup2
