We will only be in Los Angeles for one day (this Saturday) 3/7. Been to Disney World a bunch but never been to Disneyland or Knotts or any of the Southern California theme parks. It will just be my husband and I and we like rides of all kinds and really like thrill rides. We also are big fans of park ambience. Any suggestions what would be better for us!

Hi i personally would do Knotts it has a. great big wooden roller coaster love the mine train .Have lunch at Mrs Knotts chicken or go to Pofolks two of my favorite places to eat It has a beautiful huge gift shop Virginias i have spent a fortune there. I also love Disneyland Knotts is something different.:cool1:

Well ... if you really wanted a day's worth of thrills, my answer would be neither - Magic Mountain has one of the best collections of white-knuckle rides in the world.

Maybe its location (Santa Clarita - it somehow moved from Valencia years ago) is out of the way, or you've already decided against it. If you're looking for theming, Magic Mountain is definitely lacking, and has little live entertainment as this time of year.

So, if you're still looking for thrills, I'd recommend Knott's Berry Farm. GhostRider, Xcelerator, Silver Bullet, Montezooma's Revenge, La Revolucion, Boomerang, Riptide, and Perilous Plunge beat what's offered by Disneyland & California Adventure combined easily.

Also, nothing in any Disney theme park you will ever visit can match the genuine theming of Ghost Town.

I do not know if this is only offered online, but both of you can get into Knott's for only $50.

There are photos of both MM and KBF in this thread.

It's been a very long time since I've been to Knotts (19 years) but as a kid, it we always went there the afternnoon after driving to so. Cal on the 1st day of our vacation as a kind of warmup to Disneyland. We were able to do quite a bit in a partial day there so back then, I would say that we could have done most of the park in a day.

I'm sure it has changed a lot over the years, but I would think that they are mostly catering to the locals who do day trips so you can probably do just a day and still see quite a bit there.

Personally, I'd rather go to DL if I was in the area, even if it was just for 1 day. :earsboy:

Thanks everyone! Based on some of you comments and my husbands urging, I think we will try Knott's for more thrills and something different. :goodvibes

Good choice. we loved knotts when we went though people said not to go there we did and we still have fond memories. we are hoping to go there again this year, but we are also going to sea world and disneyland. we shall see :)

If you are thinking of visiting the week before Christmas, I'd say KBF would be busy every day. When I go during December, it's on one of the Toys for Tots weekends, when KBF will be packed with visitors. Weekdays in early-mid December would be much quieter. Regardless of the crowd levels, it's a great time to visit.
