Hey all,
I have two kids aged 14 and 11. We plan on going on vacation in December 2025. Would you suggest we head to Epic Universe/Universal or Disneyland? We have never been to either one but have been to Disney World many times and want to try something new. 😊

Disneyland all the way. That park is so beautiful during the holidays, and they do have some notable attractions that aren’t at WDW as well. I wouldn’t head to Epic for at least 2 more years since the crowding will definitely be high due to the hype being real.

Disneyland is having their 70th celebration starting this summer. Though I'm December they'll probably be back to their holiday program--which is amazing anyway. I think Disneyland is magical in December!

I think Epic will probably be a madhouse for the first year. I live in FL, and I am not going there anytime soon (but I want to!). As one who grew up in SoCal, I say Disneyland. Plus you can visit near by Knott's which is fun for teens. You could even do Universal, too! Lots to see in SoCal that isn't a theme park as well. :)

IF Epic wasn't just opening I would have fully suggested that however if you feel you'll be able to go back to Orlando and do Epic in the next year or two I would choose DL. If you don't think you'll get over to Universal for several years then I would lean towards Epic especially given your kid's ages (mostly the elder) because as they get older their own schedules and depending on how long it is and any plans for college for the eldest could get in the way.

I always loved the thought that I had been to EPCOT and AK the first year Open …
I used to love love love. Disneyland … I guess they are bringing back
the Paint the Night Parade …
It is impossible to give you any perfect answer That is how much I love that Parade…but I will be at Universal for EPIC .

Let us know what you decide but don’t delay making your reservations
Will you stay on Disney property?

Right now you can only get 1 day of Epic access and you have to buy 3 days of park tickets if not a UO AP. I would go for Disneyland. You could go to Universal Hollywood and get the Nintendo area if you want.

This is what I would do as well, Disneyland plus a side trip to Uni Hollywood to see the original Nintendo Land. Then Epic in the future.

Actually, this is basically what we ARE doing, lol. Because we want to see the 70th anniversary at DL and Paint the Night Parade, then we'll be back in Orlando probably late 2026 or in 2027 and add Epic to a weeklong vacation at WDW.

I would give Epic some time to settle personally. 6ish months might be enough time...but we are personally holding off until later in 2026...maybe into 2027...just to let the dust settle and make sure any of the issues that come up, had a chance to be worked out.
