Just saw an ad for the TV show Getaway, they are doing a segment on their next show about Disneyland. The show is 8pm on Thursday.

We saw the ad earlier today on tv. My mum's worried that if we watch it we'll all want to go back again (which we already do, but even more so)!

That would be my dream job, being a travel reporter, being able to travel to wonderful places to share the joy to everyone back home :)

We saw the ad this morning while running around getting ready for the day. 4 people stop dead in their tracks and watched the screen and smiled.

Just under 9 months to Christmas in Disneyland, we shall be watching.

Good lord...it's times like this you really really really appreciate Samantha Brown's documentaries.

This is just embarassing... :headache:

Piratesland??? :confused3

The only GOOD advice...

On the bottom of the screen they advised getting The Unofficial Guide
www.touringplans.com

So - Ignore everything you just saw...go get the book...

spot on Queenie - it was pretty sad and basic. The bit about food options was appalling! How will they mangle WDW?
Maybe you gals should invite them to your Sydney DISmeet and edumacate them

I am convinced that Michael Palin stole my body! He keeps going to all the places I wanna get to...:headache:

And I didn't catch Getaway tonight. Looks like I didn't miss much.

Putting the crappy information aside, I just wanted to climb into my TV and BE THERE again! My DH laughed at my daughter and I as we were 'there's this and there's that' and remember this LOL, and saying 'if they're going anti-clockwise, they'll go to Tomorrowland - hey presto, theey were in Tomorrowland LOL.

Jaymi even reminded me of how we knocked on the door of our room at GCH, only to immediately realise it was not our room but the room BELOW ours, so we ran like crazy :rotfl2: (They never did catch us!).

I've even been through the pics I have on my work laptop this morning, I felt like reminiscing. Ah well, I should hold off now until the Dis-meet tomorow night!

Totally agree, it was so lame. We all loved watching though and wished we were there and had a lot of "next time" conversations :) but the reporting was useless! I also wondered how they're going to butcher WDW, that's going to be even worse!

Not nearly enough detail for me! (but then I am DL-detail-obsessed as Heidi can attest to). If I'd never been there I'd think all they serve is junk food and would have no idea DCA exists, no idea where to stay, no idea there is a DTD etc etc.

But, it was good to see some of my favourite place again, and look forward to going again in about 3 years.

I was at work so missed it but will have to check it out online. Have just reserved the unofficial guide at the library. Is it a good idea to actually buy one?

It was disappointing. They could have done so much more. There was so much important stuff (to me) that they didn't show. I wonder what they will do for the WDW show. Surely they couldn't get through that in 10 minutes. There is enough at WDW to do an entire show and more.

I am so glad I'm not the only one who thought it was less than sparkling.

They advertised it as the "Ultimate Guide". Not to ultimate IMHO. The reporters were annoying. I agree, Sam Brown does a much better job.

They could have done a much better job giving the food a rap - made it look like it was all fast junk food.

Still, for people who have never been there, it was probably ok.

I'm dreading the WDW effort. I hope they take reporters/researchers who actually know what they're on about. Kate Ceberano mentioned about three times it has been over 40 years since she was at Disney.

Despite how bad WE thought it was, a woman at work who knows I'm a Disney fan came up to me today and said: "Gee - it made me want to go!". I told her that if that was enough to make her willing to go (including the fact that a whole flippin' park was basically skipped over - let alone DTD and the hotels) then she will still have a HUGE surprise when she finally gets there :goodvibes :lmao:

My whole family watched it, hoping it would help the post-Disneyland blues we're feeling...well it certainly did help us re-live the amazing time we had only months ago but we were disapointed otherwise. It just lacked something. Agreed, the only decent information it had was get the 'Unoffical Guide', I love that book. I love how they just magically ended in DCA without even exploring it. I can see how it would be enticing for people who hadn't been to DLR before but disapointing for those who know the real magic of it. I'm yet to know how it's possible to replicate the feeling of being at Disneyland through a TV though, I think you just have to be there to know it.

When do we think it was filmed? Must have been pre-October because there were no Halloween/Christmas decorations but it seemed quite sunny so not sure if it was last year or this year.

I think it must have been filmed reasonably recently - everyone had jackets on, and as it wasn't decorated for anything this would mean probably January or February in California. It's the only time of year you'd really need a coat like that during the day.

Glad I'm not the only one who thought this was a terrible segment! I was embarassed for the presenters watching it. Be interesting to see the WDW one (especially since I haven't been there before)

Did I miss it or did they totally leave out Toontown?

The food bit really frustrated me too. Anybody who hasn't been there before will assume you're restricted to junk food which just isn't true.. perhaps they were trying to play up the whole "all you can find to eat in the US is junk" myth.
