I just returned from 4 nights at the BW Stovall's Inn as I took my daughter down for Vidcon. The weather was very nice but I wasn't expecting humidity, it got very warm. I live on the west coast but hadn't been to Disneyland since 1998 but have gone to Orlando every year since 1999 and love it.
I found the Stovall's Inn to be pretty good (room was very clean) but hated not having a safe in the room because it is a motel. They really put a lot of effort into taking care of guests such as showing movies at the pool and opening a concession stand. I thought the hotel was a positive because of its proximity to the convention center. It was a fairly short walk to DTD by going through the Grand Californian but it did add up to a lot of walking because I don't stay in a park all day.
I love the night time entertainment at Disneyworld, enjoy grabbing a drink and walking around what I guess is now Disney Springs but completely love the Boardwalk. Although very nice, I did not care for Downtown Disney @ Disneyland. I thought everything except Earl of Sandwich was very expensive (my 1st Beer at ESPN was $8.50 for a 24 oz and the service was horrible). The areas outside of Disney seemed to keep a similar price point.
I did think the parks were very good and that California Adventure was spectacular (I loved RSR) but I doubt I would ever return because I can get so much more value for my money in Orlando. I hated having to cross the busy streets and all the horn honking plus the condo where I stay in Kissimmee is the same price as the motel I was at and has a lazy river, 2 waterslides, 2 BR/2 baths and a W/D and a nice pool bar with cheap prices. There is just so much more value in DW. We stayed at the Beach club one year and never even went to a park because the resort was all we needed.
I know people love Disneyland but it just wasn't for me when I know the option I have in Orlando. I know most people will hate what I am saying but I'm really not trying to be negative towards the park but the homeless people hanging at the entrance were definitely something I wasn't used too. I think it is just way to big a city for me.
