Hello All!

In October 2012 my husbands national conference for work will be in Anaheim, so we've decided to make this a family trip and go to Disneyland! I'm beyond excited . I've been to Disney World twice, but never Disneyland, so I'm really clueless on what to expect. We will be bringing along our then 10 year old and 3 year old. Any advice/tips, websites or books that anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you in advance! :)

If you check out the "sticky notes" on this forum you'll see Hydro Guy's WDW vet's guide to Disneyland. It's a wealth of info.

Our first couple trips to DLR were in October and we fell in LOVE! It's a great time for a first visit:)
As for books I really like the Unofficial Guide to Disneyland. Our DD was 3 our first visit (3 years ago) and it was the BEST age! We also had DS5 who loved it but it just seemed so much more magical to our 3 year old. My favorite video is of us taking a break on main street and listening to the band and dd dancing along. She just truly loved even the small things.
Our first visit in Oct was DEAD! The next year the same week was crazy busy. So not sure what is typical, we had both ends of the spectrum and that was the beginning of OCT.
You will love it! Enjoy!:goodvibes

To piggyback on the crowd situation, October has had the most dramatic shift in crowds over the past 5 years. Once an "offseason" month, October is now one of DLR's most crowded times of the year. Weekends are jam-packed with special Halloween offerings. During the week, it's usually ok, but the Mickey's Trick or Treat Party has been offered on Tuesdays and Fridays, and DL closes early on those days (DCA remains open though).

Also with the new addition of Carsland and Buena Vista Street to DCA, and a rumored big new advertising campaign, this October may see very high crowds.

I'm not trying to scare you off because October is an awesome time to visit (love all of the Halloween decorations!), but I don't want you to be surprised when you get there and lots of people are there with you too!

If your budget allows, stay onsite at one of the 3 Disney Hotels
My favorite (and most expensive) is the Grand Californian :thumbsup2

I'm also planning a trip in October specifically to visit Carsland :goodvibes

Yay! Glad to see I am not the only one already planning an Oct 2012 trip!! It will be our first October visit as well! We usually do a December trip..
