Hi there,

I am planning a trip to Disneyland in October, and I just wanted to see if anyone knew what was going to be happening as far as events and construction and whatnot. It may be a little early to know, but doesn't hurt to see.

One of the things I wanted to ask about was the Electrical Parade. Does it still exsist?? I've seen a couple people mention it on these forums, but I don't see it anywhere on the Disney sites.

Also, what is it like for weather and such? I was there in October about 13 years ago, and from what I remember it was fairly warm. I am from Canada, so anything will probably feel warmer than here in October!

My boyfriend and I are going to be driving down and our plan at this moment is to stay at the Ramada Maingate. It seems to be the closest without paying too much money. It's around $80 a night. If there is any information about another hotel that might be better and just as close for just as much, please let me know. Thanks!! :)

Last October DLR was really crowded. Disney is successfully marketing its Halloween offerrings. See the first two posts in this thread - "Understanding AP Blockouts and Impact on Crowds" http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2365983

The DEP is leaving DLR in April to go to Florida for a couple years. The new World of Color show is debuting most likely in May.

Here is weather info - "Detailed Weather History for DLR" www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=23004158

As for closures, IASW goes down for a holiday overlay in October. Consider whether you want weekdays or weekends. Weekdays are off-season. Here is some more info:

Also watch out for Columbus Day weekend, a holiday down here in the US. See "List of American Holidays" www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1937849

In October we can still have some very hot days. It's not unusual to have days in the 90's still. And the Santa Ana winds come around October. However, it not necessary that you'll have hot days. I would plan for mild to warm days-you should be fine.

Personally I like the weather here in So. Cal. alot in Oct. One of my favorite months weatherwise.

And yes, unfortunately, once Halloweentime starts, the parks will get more crowded. :crowded:

We love Disneyland in October, going to go again this October... it is mild weather (high 70's is what we experienced), and we love the Halloween stuff!

I understand it is getting more crowded... Gay Days are the 1st weekend, and the 3rd weekend (I think) is the end of fall break for a few states, then Halloween gets crazy... I think somewhere there was a good post about how busy it gets now! **edited to add: I am slow at posting and Hydroguy posted what I was talking about already! :)

The Electrical Parade will have moved to Disney World by October, so you'll miss that... but you should be able to see Fantasmic and World of Color--oh and the Halloween version of Space Mountain, plus Nightmare Before Christmas Haunted Mansion & Halloween fireworks should be going too!

Have fun! i know I am looking forward to it!

Thank you for all the answers!

We are planning to be in the parks from the 2nd (evening) to the 8th. So the very beginning of October. Do you think all the Halloween make-overs will be done by then? Just don't want to miss any of the big rides. Space Mountain and Haunted Mansion are two of my faves, and I really want my boyfriend to be able to see them! I know I am catching one of the busy weekends, but I want to make sure that we see Fantasmic, and if it's only playing on weekends, then I need to make sure I am there! :)

While October in general is getting more crowded, we went this past October, during the 3rd week and it was great. It was one of the least crowded trips that we have ever taken. I did the research and avoided the weekends that were predicted to have large crowds such as gay days weekend and school breaks and it worked out well. We arrived on Sunday, the 18th and stayed through the week. Some of those days were very warm (in the mid 80's), so it was definitely warm enough to swim. We swim even when it is in the 70's though, as we are from WA state and are used to cooler weather also.

I go pretty much every October and always go during the third week of the month. The week day crowds are fine, the lines aren't ever bad. Weekends are of course fairly busy but still do-able! Last year I was there from the 20th til the 25th and this year i'll be there from the 18th til the 25th. I love this week, always a good week. Next to no closures (nothing big especially)
