Heard on the news today that Disney;s people were here last week looking at the Docklands and Avalon for a new theme park. They liked Avalon alot with the Jetstar airport next door.

Melbourne is atthe top of the llist for a park!! woohooo

I'm actually surprised it's out in the open. The cost of land after Disney announces goes way up. They could hurt their chance to buy at a fair price.

I'm all in favor of a DIsneyland Aussie style. All the more reason to visit there, something I've dreamed of for many years.

That would be great. After all, Disney currently has no parks in the southern hemisphere.

I think a smart move would be one in Australia and the next one should be in Brazil.

But I do agree that it's strange that it would be done out in the open before they actually buy the land. That's why Walt secretly bought all the land in Florida. So that the prices wouldn't be so high.

According the to article, an Australian businessman is trying to attract Disney to build a Disneyland theme park in Avalon, NSW. And, according to the article, Disney executives have actualy toured some sites in Australia.

The entire country of Australia has a population of only 20.2 million. My guess is it would be very difficult to build a successful business case for a Disneyland them park in Australia.

EuroDisney has what ??? 700 million people withing a few 100 miles. Hong Kong about a billion. Shanghi & India.... billion apiece ?

Just don't think it's worth the effort in Australia.

More news....Disney were here last month and are keen to work in with Avalon VIC as the no frills airline is there and Lindsay Fox the developer of both places is bidding on it as well to get Disney here. They will get the land cheap as the developer wants them to go there etc. Disney like the idea thatthe cheap airline will bring families direct to the park....

We have all three other theme parks here and they all do well, so I don;t see why disney wouldn;t.
