So Im in the pre-planning stages for making a trip. Were thinking while Space Mountain at WDW is in rehab, we could visit DL again and save WDW for later.

Last year we went in August, and it was great. Beautiful weather, the crowds werent too bad (The most wait times were like 25-30 minutes).

This year if we do go we would go in July because I have a Wedding to go to in August. Im wondering if our experiance would be comparable in July?

We would be going around say July 12-25? So we would be passed July 4 crowds. Can anyone speculate?

Thanks :) :) :)

Personally, I love going in July, but I'm the freak who loves the hot weather and crowds. My last July - it was the middle of the month - at DL was as packed as I have ever seen it, and it was sweltering. I've never been in August, so I can't compare that.

I haven't been in August but I'm guessing it will be about the same. We went at the end of July last summer. Weather will be warm in both months but you just never know when the heat wave will hit. I too like warm weather. I have never seen summer as crowded as the days after New Years, so while summer is busy, it isn't so crowded that you can't move.

We go in the summer a lot and July is very similar to the first half of August (the second half of August is often slightly lighter crowds due to school starting back up in some districts). In our experience, lines for Splash, Space, Indy, and Peter Pan are almost always over 60 mins in July (except for the 2 hours after park opening) and many of the other rides are 20-45 mins. It can get really hot in July but August is the same way. Last July when we went it was 101 and slightly humid so it was a little uncomfortable outside but most of DL's rides are indoors or in the shade, including the queues. The great thing about summer is the nights are wonderful. Just plan to take a 2-3 hour break in the middle of the day to rest in the hotel so you can be good to go till midnight and enjoy the night. We are going again this July.

July 17th is Disneylands birthday....I went a few years back and they handed out birthday hats at the gate...maybe something better this year with their celebration theme(??) I thought the crowd was heavier that day than the days before/after. I've avoided summer months since that visit...I'd rather go in cooler off-season months even if the park closes earlier.

July 4th weekend is the national barbershop quartet competitions and it is going to draw big crowds. My friend is in THE bestest group, Vocal Majority. I agree that the 17th will see bigger crowds because of the park birthday but probably not as big as the 50th.

It is doable but you got to go early, be first in line for rope drop, do Peter Pan and Dumbo first things and get FP. Save everything for the after noon that you can like the animation building and Blue Sky Cellar. Long hours means you can rest in the day time then have lunch at a cheap off site place or do a meal at Downtown or the hotels then charge the parks again.
