We are thinking about staying in one of the Disneyland California resorts this summer. Anyone ever use DVC and stay at any of those properties? How were they? Are they just hotel rooms? Any info would help. Thanks.

we just booked a ressie at Grand California with our developer points ... we will travel in May,so I am not much help yet! :)

It sounds like they are hotel rooms until the villas are completed at Grand California Resort

Yes--they are hotel rooms (although you can also book suites I understand although they are a LOT of points).

The Grand Cal is the premiere hotel--similar in feel from what I understand to VWL. It is right next to California Adventure and has the 'secret entrance' into Cal. Adventure (all three hotels are permitted to use this entrance--not just the Grand Cal)

The Disneyland Hotel is the original Disney hotel--it has three towers and many people think it is the best because it has more Disney touches. It also has the Neverland Pool that is Peter Pan themed.

The Paradise Pier Hotel is the third hotel--pretty basic, themed as Mickey Beach/pier. I like it actually (better than DLH, personally)

The Grand Cal is the hotel that will make you go "wow"

All three are walking distance to the parks--no busses or anything needed.

Have fun!

Let me also say you should check out the Disneyland board on Disboards. There are lots of really helpful stickies (check out HydroGuy's in particular) and if you can do a search there is a lot of info about the three hotels. The people on the Disneyland board are VERY helpful and will be glad to answer any planning questions you may have.

We used points to stay at DL Hotel last year and really enjoyed it. We had a view of the park, and found the location to be really convenient.

I have used my points at the Disneyland Hotel and the Grand Californian. Both of these were nice resorts, especially the Grand Californian.

We "splurged" on a one-bedroom suite at the DLH and it was 184 points for 4 nights (Sat-Tue) in June of 2008. So the suites are a lot more points, but since I've been "spoiled" by DVC accomodations at WDW and, it was worth it! :goodvibes

We stayed at DLH last July. Loved the little touches in the rooms. One quick thing to note if you have small kids, the strollers are FREE if you have a Disney Visa. Also, from Tomorrowland to hotel room via Monorail was 9 minutes (seriously, we timed it). We really just loved Disneyland, so much so that we may add on at GCV (especially if I can talk somebody at DVC into selling me less than 100 points...). You will really appreciate the 15 minute wait for Soarin'...

Here are some pics (note, on the one pic of the couch, the stain was just moisture from a wet swim suit, the couch was fine...)
