Ok, so I called the number for Disneyland Resort Hotels and it is true the GC is booked when we want to go, HOWEVER, the Disneyland Hotel has availability in the Sierra Tower, which I know nothing about?

How far is the walk from the Sierra Tower to the Main Gates?

How far is the walk from the Sierra Tower to the Monorail?

Do I need to call in advance to USE the monorail?

Do I need to call in advance to do Goofy's Kitchen? What is Goofy's Kitchen? Good times to eat there, bad times?

And does the DH have a concierge service like GC?
HELP!!

How far is the walk from the Sierra Tower to the Main Gates?
There are three towers at the DL Hotel, and Sierra Tower is the closest to the park entrances. I would say that the walk is less than 10 minutes, and you walk through Downtown Disney, which is a really nice area.

How far is the walk from the Sierra Tower to the Monorail?
I would say about 3 minutes. It's very close to the tower.

Do I need to call in advance to USE the monorail?
The monorail runs regularly throughout Disneyland's open hours from the Downtown Disney station to the Tomorrowland, Disneyland station. There are 2-3 trains - blue, purple, and orange (and may be another one in the future, but not sure). You do not have to make any type of reservation, however, you do have to have your park ticket in order to board the monorail.

By all means - you need to make priority seating arrangements for Goofy's Kitchen. They serve buffet, and I do not know of any bad times to go there. The number to call to make a PS is (714) 781-3463, and you can call 60 days in advance.

And does the DH have a concierge service like GC?
DLH does have concierge. I really like the view from the lounge, and it is located on the 11th floor - it overlooks Downtown Disney and parts of Disneyland and California Adventure.

Thanks MJ, you are just FULL of great info!! Regarding the Concierge service at the disnyland hotel, do you know what tower it's in? You said the 11th floor but not sure if that's the sierra or all towers!!

I was getting sad that we weren't going to be able to stay at the GC...but I think this will do and be just as exciting!!

I'm sure I'll have more questions later, I try to look through the threads first as I'm sure you guys post the same thing like 100 times, but appreciate the info very much!!

HOw do you know what hotel that you get? I have asked several time for the Sierra tower and they tell me I have to wait until I get there and sing in that day :guilty:

Nothing is guaranteed until you check in. They may have rooms that are resort view, overlooking Downtown Disney & part of the theme parks, and you would pay for that. Even with that, sometimes when I make a reservation they'll tell me I can get either resort or pool view, and the guest can request the resort view, but no guarantees.

That brings up a good question. So when I called to make my reservation at DLH they said they had rooms for 270.00 a night with a view of either pool or park (I chose park) and then requested the sierra tower (they put that down in a side note but said it was first come first serve...I understand)

So, will I actually get a room worth 270.00 a night? Is that the cheapest room? Or the standard?? How do you know??

It sounds like you were quoted the rate for a view room - they always start with that. You could probably get a standard room for about $50 less. Whether or not it is worth the money depends on how you look at it. You could probably get the same quality of room for half the price (or less) at another hotel, but without all the Disney touches, and of course the hotel itself has Disney all over it.

Oh, I'm not complaining about the price, I just didn't know if that was higher end in pricing for the rooms, and what I should expect for that pricing? For instance, I could get there that day, get our room, pay them 270.00 a night and not know the difference.

We've never stayed there. For that price should I GET a room with a park view?

Mom2Joce - The $270 may be the base price -- there is a tax on that, and then the resort fee is added per night - $11.50 including tax... I'm just letting you know so you won't be surprised when you check out.

In my experience, Disney won't charge you a higher price then give you a room with a lesser view.

Yes, thank you, when I made the reservation she did tell me that and in my confirmation I received the other day it says the same thing.

I just didn't know what I should expect to get for a room of 270.00. We'll be checking in super early, 7am, and leaving our luggage, so maybe that will help with getting the best room possible! Then it's off to the park :)

Getting excited!! I can't thank you enough for all your help, advice, and lately PICTURES GALORE!!! It really helps!!
