Hi Can anyone help me with Floor and Tower request at the DL Hotel?

I had heard Sierra was the best tower and closet to the parks? Is this ocrrect? What about proximity to the main pool and main bldg?

Which bldg is closest?

Thanks

:goodvibes

I dont think there is a huge diffrence in walking to the park from different towers... maybe a few minutes difference. We stayed in Bonita, which is the longest walk, but like I said, maybe five minutes more. We looked out our balcony wondow and saw the rainforest cafe, the swimming pool, the waterfall and pond was below us, we could see the fireworks, our room was really large since we asked for a fold out couch. The surroundings were very peaceful. The gentleman who helped us carry our bags out the day we left told us we were lucky, we had one of the best rooms. :) Thats the only tower I've had experience with. Hopefully other will chime in to help you as well. Good luck!

We requested the Sierra Tower (reserved a standard room), and were pleased when we were upgraded to a 6th floor view room. It is the closest tower to DTD and the opposite side of the tower faces the Neverland Pool area.

Here's a pic of our view:

:goodvibes I just called and they told me I am booked in a Downtown Disney View room at Sierra Tower! Hope the view is as good as this one!

Awesome!

The Bonita is at most a one to two minute further walk to the pool, DTD and the parks. I have stayed there three times now and love that location since I enjoy walking through the fountains and like to enjoy the koi ponds.
Its actually my favorite tower if I can get a fountain facing view.

When I requested the Sierra Tower for our visit in June, I was told that there were no standard rooms in that tower. So I requested the Marina Tower instead. The goal, of course, is to be as close to the parks (and the ESPN Zone to a lesser extent) as possible.

Should I call back and see if someone else gives me a different answer or is there such little difference between the towers that it won't matter?

I have been told that there are standard rooms in the Sierra Tower. They are lower level rooms that do not afford much if any view, so they are considered standard. I would call back and ask again.

We could CARE LESS about any view. We just want to say in the Disney environment (WDW veterans making our first visit to the homeland and we are used to staying at a Disney hotel) and have a nice place to sleep at night. The convenience of being close to the parks (and the monorail station for return trips in the late afternoon) is one main reason we chose the Disneyland hotel over Paradise Pier. So being lower level is no problem at all for us. I'll call them back. Thanks.

Well I did just get off the phone and the lady did say there were some standard rooms available at the Sierra. I know it won't be a huge difference, but this is technically the closest tower to Downtown Disney, right? Because we are going in late June and the crowds will be pretty bad (even though I hope we can get ourselves up early and try to offset that) there won't be any room upgrades for us, but still being that close to the ESPN Zone and the Monorail station is very exciting. Thanks for the heads up.

We just booked our stay for May 13-17 all I know is I have a 2 queen 1 daybed room with an upperview of DTD.

We stayed in the Marina Tower (had requested Sierra, but didn't get it). There is literally a 100 feet difference bewteen the two (where you come out of the hotel from anyhow..... ) I wouldn't worry about it being a farther walk at all. The nice things about Marina were, the small and large gift shops were right in the lobby, as was guest relations. And the coffee house was just outside the doors of the tower, so it was a quick run to get coffee and in the morning. ;) All and all, I was pleased with the location of our room in Marina Tower.

Will it say on my reservation what tower were in, or do you find out when you check in?

Did you just request that VIEW or did you have to book a certain TYPE OF ROOM to be able to request that view?

I am now worried, because I have paid extra for the resort/pool view (this is the way it is stated on my confirmation). I requested the highest floor possible in the Sierra Tower (not stated on confirmation, as it is only a request, I guess :confused3 ).

Now I am wondering if I should drop that request and just take my chances with whatever tower they give me...thoughts???

When I booked I had just booked the preferred Downtown Disney View that was all that was left

When I called back they told me I was in Sierra Tower with 2 queen beds and daybed

No I did not need a certain type of room, they said I could choose from a King and foldout, 2 queens or 2 queens and a daybed and I would still get the same view. She said it is not guaranteed but it would probably be Sierra Tower with the view I chose.

I just booked a package online through AAA at the DLH for September. All they had available for AAA discount was the view room. We have never stayed on property before!:cool1:
My question: do I call DLH front desk directly for a room request ( I would rather have a DTD view, not a pool view) OR do I call the main reservation line? Is it too early to make this call? (4 months in advance??)
Thanks!!
