Disneyland Hotel vs. Paradise Pier

That red arrow isn't a short walk. It's a good 5 minutes. I've been doing it since DtD reopened last summer and we have had to park in the Simba lot behind PPH.
5 minutes is a long walk? In what world is this?

I appreciate this thread so much!! I was booked into a theme park view room at PPH, but yesterday my TA contacted me and told me about the discount - i could have stayed put and saved $250 OR for just about $150 more I could bump to DLH Premium (Pool View, not DTD View). I really loved the idea of going to sleep and waking up to the DCA view, but even though I'm good with protein bars and coffee for breakfast, I wasn't 100% sure about staying at PPH with no verification that food would be available there...

So I made the switch! :D

I really hope they do something about food at PPH, it's pretty sad to literally offer nothing at an official Disney property.

Agreed. I'll admit there is the possibility I'll change back if they open something up between now and then - that park view almost outweighed the no food thing.

What do people normally eat at the hoteL? I eat in the parks or at a restaurant. When we stayed at Springhill suites this Summer we didn't have any food service except breakfast that was inedible.

There are restaurants at the hotels and often the food is better than in the parks. DLH also has a coffee shop onsite with bakery items. The only good breakfast I've had in the parks was at Carnation Cafe and they got rid of what I liked.

When we were there we bought muffins and yogurt for the room and then had a bigger breakfast in the park later. I did go to the coffee shop a couple of times, which was very good. The Starbucks is close by, but I'm not sure when that is closing.

Off site / lower price hotels aren't known to have much (if any) food options unless 4 star. However for $300 to $400+ per night on site PPH used to have character dining, full breakfast/lunch/dinner, also grab and go coffee shop, etc...

Just odd a $100 per night hotel can offer buffet or at least to go items, and Disney won't. 🤷‍♂️ Although why should they if guests keep booking $400+ a night rates. That's what PPH is going for this week, which generously includes no food and no housekeeping service.

Well, lower end hotels usually have some cheap continental breakfast while higher end hotels will have a significantly higher quality breakfast at an additional cost (sometimes free to loyal members of the hotel). I personally think that the Paradise Pier Hotel is terrible value for money but there's loads of people who will pay anything to stay with Disney so there's that.

The only hotel I personally think is worth paying a bit extra for is the Disneyland Hotel but even if it were only $200 a night, I'd usually still pick the JW Marriott or Westin over it.
