Disneyland hotel to Universal...

How long is the Drive on a weekday morning from Disneyland to Universal? We are planning on staying at the DLH and want to hit Universal on a weekday, but my DH came home today saying he heard that it could take hours to get there in the morning due to traffic. Are we better off spending the night near Universal before checking into DLH?

We were planning on spending a night in Carlsbad and doing LEGOLAND, should we head to Universal after that and spend the night... go to Universal... then that night drive to Disney?

LEGOLAND will be on a Saturday so that would mean doing Universal on Sunday instead of a weekday.

We are going the last week of October if that makes a difference.

It won't take hours, but expect at least an hour to an hour 15 to get there if you don't leave before 6AM on a weekday. I live by Universal and that's about how long it takes to get to Disneyland or back home on a weekday morning

When we did that drive on a weekday I believe that we allowed for 1 1/2 hours to make sure we had plenty of time.

We did a package deal that included bus transportation from the DLR area to Universal and back. THis was about 15 years ago so my memory is a bit foggy. All I can remember was that the drive back to the DLR in the evening took "forever". We hit some really bad traffic.
