Disneyland Hotel stay - do you think I'm crazy...

If money wasnt an issue i would just book the stay at DLH in a heart beat.
But unfortunately thats not the case for me
And the AUS dollar isnt really good at the moment either, Im staying at HOJOS & that has a lovely pool area for the kids with the bucket & slides.

It is my dream to one day to stay onsite ...probably at GCH.. But the extra couple of thousand maybe more i would pay to stay onsite i would rather have for spending money right now especially having 3 kids.

Fun! I think we're going the same days. Seems like a lot of people on here are going then (good or bad!! lol).
I would also take into account that the DLH is further away than the DI&S. If one of your key focuses is on proximity, that might be a thing to consider.

Have you compared prices with the HomeWood suites convention center? It's a newer property. Includes dinners m-th. Breakfast every day. If you're there a week it may end up cheaper.

I did look into Homewood Sutes but they had no availability for my dates unfortunatly. However, i did get a good deal with HOJOS & have stayed there before & the kids love the pool area.

Thank you sooooo much to all who replied with their thoughts / opinions - was very much appreciated, especially Geemo but all remarks were welcomed : )
Well.... we've done it (or should I say - I've done it as I intend it to be a surprise for my son when we get there!)
I've taken all thoughts / opinions into consideration but have done what I think will work best for us and I am feeling very happy with my decision.
We are going to do the 1st 2n at DLH - with our flight times this trip (very different to previous) I feel like it will work out better for us to stay there at the beginning of the trip. Whilst recovering from the jet lag and shorter park hours the first couple of days I think we will get the most use out of the facilities.
I take the point that downgrading hotels is not normally the recommendation but it is not completely dissimilar to what we've done on our previous trips where we have moved all over the place - some nights we were in very basic (sometimes downright sketchy!) accommodation and then maybe a 4* the next night.
Of course, it would have been nice to stay there the whole time but the price jumps dramatically after that first 2n special and I just couldn't pay that much for a hotel when we will be spending most of the time in the parks.
I will be happy to write an honest review when I get back as to whether I think it worked out ok for us or whether in future we would do things differently.
All of the activities we have planned are ones that we really wanted to do and will add to the enjoyment of our trip so I don't want to drop any of them.
They are either favourites from previous trips or like the Halloween Afternoon Tea is a surprise for my son - he loves 'high tea', we did it this year in a high rise revolving restaurant for his birthday - it's one of his favourite things to do and he is VERY excited doubt the Halloween element of the trip.

Yes Minnieralyks - from memory you are doing MHP on 9/27 & 9/29 - we are doing 9/29 & 10/3 - not long to go now! My son keeps asking every day if I've found anything new out - of course as a lot of what I've booked is a surprise I'm not letting too much out! And yes, to us proximity is the main factor! When we did Goofy's Kitchen it felt like MILES to get there but really want to try the DLH as it's always been a bucket list wish so will see what we think about it this time.

Thanks to all - your time in replying was appreciated : )
