The Disneyland Hotel was notified that its has received a 2012 Four Diamond rating from AAA, joining Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa as a Four Diamond-rated hotel.
Auto Club spokeswoman Elaine Beno said there were 10 hotels in Orange County - including the Grand Californian - and 70 hotels in Southern California that received a Four Diamond rating in 2011.

Hotels and restaurants are being notified throughout the year of the 2012 award, with the full list to be released in January.
"Key to the AAA Diamond rating program is the unannounced inspection and also the objective and detailed rating procedures that are used," Beno said. "The AAA Four Diamond rating is exclusive in that less than 4-percent of all AAA-approved properties achieve this rating."
The AAA rates more than 2,600 hotels and motels in Southern California Beno said. Inspectors make at least one unannounced visit a year and review and rate exterior, grounds and public areas, room décor, ambiance and amenities, guest rooms, bathrooms, housekeeping and maintenance, management and staff and guest services.
"Once the inspection process is complete, properties that meet all requirements receive a rating of one to five Diamonds," Beno said.
The Disneyland Hotel is in the midst of a 25-month renovation.
Improvements to the 56-year-old hotel include themed towers with rooms that feature a carved representation of Sleeping Beauty Castle in the headboard of the beds, backlit with fiber optics that will create a skyline of fireworks. The upgrades also include a themed bar and restaurant and a pool area with water slide.
Relon Graham of Visalia said she was impressed by the upgrades.
"The Disneyland Hotel was kind of worn down," said Graham, 40. "Now that they've redone it, I can totally see why it's been rated so high."
The Napa Rose restaurant at the Grand Californian is a Four Diamond restaurant.
