I am going to be booking at the DLH for a trip in August soon. I've never stayed at the DLH so this is all new to me. I know there will most likely be construction going on in DtD during the summer, and I'm prepared for that, but I'd prefer to not have a straight on view of the construction. It'll just be DH and I and we would prefer a King bed (I know this is never a guarantee, only a request).

Is there a room category I can book that will give me a higher chance of getting a King room?

Also, what is the difference between "Deluxe" and "Premium"? Looks like both room types show "Views of pool" on the Disney website. Is the "Premium" just a higher floor? I was thinking a pool view would be the best bet of not looking out the window at construction.

I was thinking of doing a club level room, but since it'll just be the two of us, I think I could use that extra money toward room service for breakfast and fun drinks at Trader Sams. It'll be a short trip, so I don't want to feel obligated to make it to the lounge during the specified times. Anyone disagree and think the club level is really worth it?

Thanks all, I know that was a lot of questions!

I probably wouldn’t say club level is ever really worth it, but it’s definitely fun. The E-ticket lounge is in the Adventure Tower though which will be closest to the construction. For an August trip I’d probably opt to not stay club level and enjoy more pool-side service. :cool2:

Many of our DLH stays have just been hubby and me, and we have always ended up with two queens regardless of the room category we booked. YMMV!

When we stay at the GCH we check-in very early (about 7am) and request a King room. I've had that request met twice. It's maddening that you can't select a bed preference when booking. Hopefully we have good luck with DLH and get a King bed.

At the Grand, there are only 59 King rooms out of over 900 rooms, so chances of a king are pretty slim. DLH is a little better, but in my opinion, the king rooms are smaller, we prefer a 2-Q room.

I always wondered what the numbers were on the King bed configurations. Thanks for the info! For the longest time we had a Queen bed at home and then upgraded to a King... I guess I have a problem with going back down to the smaller size. It's not the end of the world, but it makes the vacation seem more luxurious. I personally wouldn't mind a smaller room at DLH for a King bed. I considered booking the junior suite to know I would have the King, but then thought that was silly for almost twice the price.

After you make your reservation, call and request a king. Then the day before your stay, request again.

We had a corner, pool view king room in Adventure tower last year that was very spacious. It had a pretty large seating area with a sleeper chair in addition to the sofa/daybed. There was a ton of extra floorspace in the room and the overall floorplan was a bit different from other DLH rooms I've had. The bathroom configuration was a little annoying though. There were two sinks in a long vanity with a tub at the end (and the toilet in a small room to the left of the tub). The difficult part was that if there was someone standing at the vanity it was pretty tight to get past them to the other sink/the toilet/the tub. I doubt you can make your request quite that specific but might be worth a try! The windows in the corner were nice too

Thanks for the description, sounds like a nice room despite the cramped bathroom. Did you book a premium room when you made your reservation?

I had to go back and look- yes, it does look like I booked premium view. It was originally just DD6 and I but my MIL decided to join us last minute for one of the nights. When I checked in, I asked for a room with three beds (thinking it would mean 2 queens and a daybed) because neither of us sleeps well when DD and I share a bed. She told me that the room they had me slotted for was only 2 beds but she would see what she could find and assigned us that room which was perfect for everyone to have their own spot for our situation.
