Disneyland Hotel pool vs. Grand Californian pool, share?

I just peeked at the Disneyland Hotel pool and it looks to be more exciting and bigger than the Grand Californian. Is this true?

Also, if we stay at the Grand Californian, is pool hopping permitted (between Disneyland hotels)? I know there is some sharing between hotels in WDW (BLT can go to CR), just wondering what the pool hopping rules are in CA.

Thanks!

Pool-hopping is only allowed if the pool at your hotel is under construction/out of service.

We like both pools. :thumbsup2 I don't recall the DLH pool being larger. Different vibes but both great. I also don't think pool hopping is allowed from the DLH to the GCH.

Apparently pool hopping is not allowed but you can rent a Cabana at either resort.

True that pool hopping is not allowed. Only exception is if you can book cabana.

We are actually at the villas at the GCH now and we booked a cabana at DLH for a full day tomorrow! :)

IMO, the pool that will be the most fun for you depends on the ages and stages of your kids, and how much kid-watching you are comfortable leaving to the lifeguards. The best for you this trip may be different next trip.

I currently prefer the DLH as I feel like it's easier to keep tabs on my kids there than at GCH. My kids constantly pool hop [between pools, not hotels] the entire time they're swimming, and at GCH I have to constantly get up to find them because I can't find a spot from which I can see all of the pools at once.

At DLH I can lounge near the biggest pool (E Ticket) and still see them in the bone shaped pool (D Ticket) and glimpse them waiting in line for the slide. So at my kids' ages/stages I am able to relax more easily at DLH pool.

When they were little I thought GCH was more fun because we all stayed together in the pool with the big slide. I actually didn't even notice/remember that there was more than one pool there until our last visit!
