Disneyland Hotel/Paradise Pier Question

We are going to have five people in our party when we go for 3 nights the first week of june, but don't feel like spending $1200 for two rooms, when only one of the rooms will have one person while the other room occupies 4

My question is, has anyone ever had 5 people in their room before? Are the sofa sleepers/day bed comfortable at all?

Did you feel too crowded with everyone squishing in there?

We would be saving five hundred dollars if we did this, but my mom really wants to be comfortable.

Well, for me the problem would be one bathroom, not the lack of beds!

Seriously though, the beds are very comfy and the sleeper couch is surprisingly comfortable. It is not a traditional pull out, but just a cushiony couch that doubles as a twin bed. The rooms are fairly large, but if you plan on spending much time in them, you will feel squished. If the room is just for unwinding and sleeping, you will be fine.

Bear in mind my bathroom comment!

We've done it with 4 adults and 2 kids (one in a crib) and it was fine. In fact, we've done it at both the DLH and the GCH. In fact, even though when we booked, they told us the room was only for 4, and we requested a double with daybed, the hotel told us that it was fine to have the additional child (or adult).

When we asked the hotel, they said they also have roll-aways at the DLH and Sleeping Bags at the GCH for those on the floor.

The sofa bed is just fine. If you remove all of the cushions, it becomes a twin bed.

I am one of those sorts who doesn't like to be cramped in a room with several other people either. I have been there, done that, and don't like it. Plus, as Lulubelle accurately stated, there is the bathroom issue. If I share a room with 4 other people, I don't want anyone waiting on me to finish up in the shower, making me feel rushed, etc., I don't want to have to wait on anyone else in the bathroom, and I don't want to run out of towels or have to bring my own. (There never seem to be enough towels to go around when you have several people in a room.) Plus, I don't really like sharing hotel queen beds if I can help it, but with 4 other people in the room, someone would have to share with me. So when the idea recently came up of going with a group of people to DLR this coming Fall and splitting the room cost, while the monetary savings sounded appealing, I know we would be spending quite a bit of time in the room and I don't think I can swing it. So I suggested to my friend that she get a separate room (maybe even at one of the offsite hotels across the street) for herself and her two companions, and then I share my room with our other friend.

I'm so glad to hear the daybeds are adequate. It's going to be me, DH, DD1, DD2 and DMIL next week at DLH and I've been stressing over the comfortable-factor for awhile. I'm definitely concerned about the bathroom issue as well but the goal/dream is to have adjoining rooms with my parents and brother...then there'll be 2 bathrooms between the 8 of us

from what I recall, the DL hotel has two sinks and not one correct??

As far as sleeping arrangements go, it will be me and my husband in one bed, my brother and his gf in the other, and my mom...on the couch..wow..i feel like a horrible daughter...and with mothers day around the corner I feel even worse!!! lol! But she sleeps on the couch at home about every night anyway so I hope she will just be comfortable.

You will be fine. I found the DLH and the PPH adequate for families of 5. The DLH is very spacious and the beds are comfy.

You guys won't find it crowded at all - only 3 adults are using the bathroom. We've never had a problem, but then, we are like many families around the country - we only have 1 bathroom in our house! You have worse odds in the park!

My girls are 19 months apart, and we haven't had room potty issues until now. Can you only imagine 9 years from now, though???

The sofa at the PPH converts into a twin bed. We were there last month (two adults and three teenagers) and it took us a little while to figure out how to convert the sofa but we finally got it (I can't remember how we did it though--I think the back folds down--you'll see a white twin mattress when it is folded out correctly). The room was fairly crowded but only because the teens were messy and their junk was scattered about. The one bathroom actually worked out for us but I was a little worried about it before we got there.

Regarding the lack of towel issue a previous poster mentioned, the hotel never gave us more than four towels after cleaning the room but they always brought us a set of three towels when we called and asked for one more. So . . . you aren't going to run out of towels unless you don't call housekeeping.

To save $500, I think it would be worth it to share the room. After all, you are only in the room a few hours a day and the rest of the time is spent in the parks or at the pool.

Yes - in all of the Disney hotels it does. (see post #3). You have to remember to take the back cushions off the bed to get the full width and the bedding will be on the shelf in the closet.

Thats exactly what I'm worried about for my mom!

Though she swears she'll be comfortable, and for her just the thought of getting into the thousand dollar mark frightens her!
