Disneyland hotel or grand californian????

Grand Calif. is a lot like the Wilderness Lodge. Looks similar in lobby. Disneyland hotel is undergoing a renovation--first building should be finished by summer -the Dream Tower. You will get a lot more answers over on the Disneyland California board.

Took our first trip to DLR 2 summers ago. Family of 6 stayed in 2 rooms at the Disneyland Hotel. We walked over to the GC. It was beautiful. We decided to stay at the DH because the rooms were a littler larger, the price was a little lower and we wanted that classic Disney feeling. We were not dissapointed. We did not spend much of our time in the room. Everything was clean and well maintained.

We stayed at Grand Californian two weeks ago. The lobby is like a SMALL Wilderness Lodge; it does not have the grandness that the WDW deluxes have. The less than 5 minute walk to the park entrances is nice though.

If you have young kids or older people traveling with you, I would choose GCH in a heartbeat! Go to the DL section of DIS. There is a super thread on the GCH. I stayed there in Oct. 2008 and loved it! I hope to stay there again in 2011.

GC is pretty and very convenient especially if you plan to spend a lot of time at California Adventure.
That said, I prefer Disneyland Hotel. Much better pool and it has a more nostalgic feel...also the rates are a bit cheaper than GC.
I don't care for Paradise Pier at all.

I loved our stay at the DL hotel back in December. The rooms are huge and the service was outstanding.

This board is technically for the Florida resorts.

We have a separate board for all things Disneyland. I'll be moving this thread there.

Thanks,

Both are great. Grand Californian has a beautiful lobby and is a lovely hotel. The Disneyland Hotel has more of the old Disney feeling to me. The monorail is less than a 5 minute walk from the Disneyland Hotel, which is great. Grand Californian has the entrance to California Adventure which is great. Downtown Disney connects the 2 hotels and you can walk through Downtown Disney to walk to the main entrances of both parks. I LOVE how close everything is there, I love walking everywhere and not waiting for buses. Both hotels are nice, the styles are very different, and you can get a good feel for each through photos. One is more expensive, but for me that doesn't equate with better, just different. We like both. Oh, and we like both pools too. Good luck with your decision!
