I'm really torn!!!!! I have 2 reservations for my 4 night solo trip to Disneyland on Feb 6th-10th. My brain says to do CCI and my heart says DLH. Here's my thoughts on both

CCI---cons--not on property...I wouldn't be immersed in Disney magic---pros--free breakfast, lower rate
DLH---cons--PRICE---pros--Disney magic, close to DTD and parks, great pool

CCI: TOTAL of my room w/tax: $409.40
DLH: TOTAL of my room w/tax and resort fee: $754.40
Difference: $345 plus the cost of breakfast each day and AP $239 v.s. 5 day park hopper $159

What do you guys think? Brain or heart?

so for the nights you are going you would only have early entry for Thursday and Saturday by staying at DLH. If you purchase a hopper, you will have early entry on just one of those days.

I went through the same thing as you with the new AP rates coming out. It would have been grate, but because they don't have early entry on Fridays or Sundays, it just doesn't make sense to move from such a great rate at the CCI. ($99/night) to PPI ($139/night).

I always go with heart when it comes to Disney trips - and as much as my brain kicks my butt for it in the months leading up to the trip - it never complains once we are there!!

I have only stayed at the DLH, not the CCI. I am really looking foward to trying the CCI in August. I have read on many boards that people like CCI even better than DLH. It may be the free breakfast and dedicated shuttle that pushes them in that direction. Looking forward to finding out for myself!

I noticed in your signature that you've stayed at Hojo's for the past three times. Why are you changing to Candy Cane now? Curiosity? Tired of Hojo's? Yes, I know,...I hijacked this thread.:goodvibes

Threads always get hijacked on the DL board....many by someone other than me who is in disguise :cool2: :rotfl2:

I would go with your heart, grab the AP's to get that AP room rate and go again in a few months and your admission is already paid for.

I always stay at HoJo when I am with my family of 5 because the rooms are larger and I always get the Entertainment rate which is unbeatable. The pool is awesome for my kids, too! This August, I'm planning on going with a girlfriend (just us mom's alone! - woohoo!), and I was thinking the Candy Cane would be nicer for my friend (who isn't excited about walking from the HoJo). We will also try to get a last minute deal on one of the resort hotels when the dates get closer.

I love the HoJo and always recommend it if you are traveling on a budget and want a large space with a nice pool!

The difference for us between HOJO and DLH was $450 and I am opting to stay at DLH in 7 days. If you can afford it and are not going to miss out on anything in the park......I would go for it. This is our first trip to DL as a family and our first trip together. I want the magical experience of not leaving the magic for five days. We can afford the extra money this year and who is to say we will be able to next time? That is my opinion. I am sure the CCI is nice and I would definitely look at staying there in years to come. But there is only one first time/trip..........

I see that you have only been to WDW. I've been to both DL & WDW. I'm not a big fan of the DLH. Stayed there once and won't do it again. I do like the GCH, but it is much more expensive. I wouldn't base my decision on DLH on magic and the pool. If the weather is nice, that pool gets way too overcrowded and it isn't as great as it looks in the pics. And, the hotel feels plain and barely themed. I didn't feel any magic there except perhaps in the grounds near the Bonita Tower. But, a lot of people don't like that tower because it is further from DL.

But, if ee means something to you, then you might want to stay there. Just don't expect it to be as magical as WDW.

If you and your GF are going to spend most of your time at the park and use your hotel room to primarily sleep and rest up, then stay at the CCI, which is a perfectly nice place to stay. Take the difference in the amount ($350+) and spend it on things at the park (lunch/dinner at Blue Bayou or DTD, Fantasmic Dessert Buffet, souvenirs, etc.). Your money would be better spent at the park than at the DLH, IMHO.

I with the heart too and I heart the DLH . Let me warn you I no linger want to be anywhere else!

ok now im totally confused....unless they have changed EE days in the last month, Kabbie can get ee every day of the stay except that wed. the 7th...because they would be staying at DLH and get that privledges due to being a guest so Im not sure I understand what you are talking about lucky1 unless I am missing something here:confused3 that alone would be reason enough for me to stay at DLH:rotfl: but seriously, for me, no contest...DLH!!

yep, I would stay at CCI and do the dessert buffet with the extra money. It's not to be missed.

We haven't stayed at the CCI but have stayed at DLH and HOJO. Loved DLH, and while I really enjoyed HOJO, I just felt we were missing the magic. My advice, if you can afford DLH and not have to skip on other things on your trip, splurge and stay at DLH, you only live once.

I'd estimate you've got about a $500 difference there. $500 is a LOT of money for a little extra magic. I'd be thinking "self, that'd get you half of another vacation to DL or WDW."

For me the first question would be: how much time will I spend at the hotel and in the pool? My personal answer would be VERY LITTLE. The small amount of time wouldnt not even begin to make it worth the extra cost to stay on site. I would rather use the $500 to take a tour, do the F! seating, and buying a couple really great souviners. I would rather take home a peice of art work from the gallery then look at a peice hanging on the hotel wall! Take the magic home with you............

I just had to quote this because I never thought of it that way. I'm now thinking of what "magic" I could bring home with the extra money. Hmmmm....

Signed, the person who is seriously considering DLH for June.:rotfl:

Hi Lynn.. I probably am confused, but I thought I saw a post the EE is not offered Wed, Fri and Sun. that is how I based my decision. I agree that you get early EE every day it is offered. But I could be wrong on the EE days, but here is the link that I used to determine EE days.

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1327867

Since we were trying to decide if we switched to a DL resort to get EE for our days there (we have AP) and it turned out it would only work for 1 day of our vacation (we are there Thrus Evn - Sunday) and looked like Saturday would be our only opportunity for EE and it just wasn't worth it to move us from CCI to PP or DLH for the increase cost. Granted I would love to stay at DL resort, but we are trying to save costs so we can do multiple trips to DL.
