I read that the monorail from the park stops at the Disneyland Hotel. Is this still true? Is it a convenient way to get back and forth? Does it stop at the entrance?

Thanks.

The Disneyland Monorail was originally designed as an attraction with a perk for Disneyland Hotel guests. Unlike WDW where it's a part of the transportation system.

The DL one only stops in DTD and Tomorrowland inside the park.

The monorail used to stop specifically at the "Disneyland Hotel Station". However, the original Disneyland Hotel buildings are long gone, and it's part of Downtown Disney that's there now. The station location hasn't actually changed.

I found this photo online of the Disneyland Hotel with the monorail station (which was extended to the Hotel in 1961):

It was originally just a motel with 2-story buildings, but they expanded a bit by the time the monorail station was built. I believe the original monorail route was just a loop returning back to Tomorrowland.

It is not convenient at all in my opinion. In am when heading to Disney, it is often very crowded, and does not open on time at least every other day, so if you are going for magic hour and it runs late, than you miss a lot of time, walking to the park when you find out it is not running on time.

In the pm before fireworks they close the monorail, every night for a few hours, then when it is reopened it is always very very crowded. We on several occassions walked all the way back to tomorrow land to find the monorail closed and we had to fight the crowds to get back to main gate.

IMHO it is the very last thing I count on and wish they would stop advertising it as a perk, for the last few years we avoid it at all cost except during the middle of the day.

We stayed at the Disneyland hotel last year, and we tried the Monorail to get to the park the first afternoon we were there. It was a total waist of time. I LOVE the monorail, but it took longer waiting and riding it then it would take us to walk there.

We use the monorail a lot when we are at DL. If it is running, we take advantage of it and ride it.:moped: I never use it for early entry but, we do use it quite often in the early afternoon for a faster way to the DLH. It is very convenient late at night to catch it in tomarrowland and ride it to DTD for a short walk to the DLH to call it a night. The rest of the time it is quite time saving if we go back to the DLH for anything, to ride the monorail back into the park. It is also very handy way to see where the crowds are not, when the parks start to get a little crowded. It is also an enjoyable ride unto itself.:drive: The monorail is a ride just as Indy, Screamin, or POTC. If it is not running, fine. If it is running, GREAT:yay:

Totally agree :thumbsup2 Not great if you are trying to be first in the park during EMH, but besides that usually better than walking all the way through Downtown Disney and up Main Street.

We love taking the monorail whether we are staying at the DLH or not. Like the pp said, it is a ride and you can see where the crowds are too. We loved taking it back to the DLH in the afternoon for a break. It is such a short walk to the hotel and very convenient. After resting up a bit, it was so nice to hop on the monorail and arrive right in Tomorrowland. We sat in the front car with the driver and learned a lot about the monorail and DL from the CM.
