Disneyland / Hilton

I will be at the Hilton (Annaheim) for an upcoming conference. It says it is only a couple of block from Disneyland. Anybody stay there who can comment on how far it "really" is and how easy it would be to get to Downtown Disney. (We just got back from a family trip to WDW - I'm not looking to do too much - but would like to get a few souvenirs for the DSs and perhaps grab dinner) Also, can anybody comment on how similar (or different) Downtown Disney at Disneyland is compared to Walt Disney World?

Although it has been a while since we were to WDW I found the downtown DL to be much smaller but just as enjoyable. There are not as many specialty shops to choose from but it has the World of Disney which is always my priority anyway. I'm not sure about the restaurants as we usually eat in the park or outside near our hotel.

We also have stayed at the Hilton a while back ago. I read somewhere there is a short-cut to walk to DL but we never did quite understand it and found it to be to far for us to walk We enjoyed using the Anaheim transit shuttle which is cheap, quick and easy.

We requested a fireworks view room when we checked in and where easily upgraded to a spectacular view of grizzly mt. and the fireworks nightly when we were there. Be sure to ask at the desk when you check in.

The Hilton has a shuttle.

It is much smaller than DTD at Lake Buena Vista. Several excellent restruants. We like Louisiana Kitchen. It also has music most nights. WoD Store, again smaller than the one in Florida. The Grand Californian and the Disneyland Hotel are worth a visit. DTD and the two hotels are a nice stroll and perfect for an evening.

Depending on which direction you arrive from, you may have to go through Security.

Yep those blocks are LONG. Nice hotel though!
