The Disneyland website has all the menus, etc that you need. Sometimes if I'm looking for specific dishes I google images of them so I know what I'll be getting 
I've been in July a couple years in a row, and the crowds weren't too bad. It was mostly the heat that bothered me.
If you like the dessert parties I'd definitely look into World Of Color dessert party. You get desserts, fruit and cheese plus a reserved table and chairs to watch the show.
If your grandkids like character meals, Goofy's is in the Disneyland Hotel. We go there every visit. Plaza Inn in Disneyland is very popular, too.
It's a good idea to get a book. You'll have so many fun things to do and have a great time
