The Disneyland website has all the menus, etc that you need. Sometimes if I'm looking for specific dishes I google images of them so I know what I'll be getting

I've been in July a couple years in a row, and the crowds weren't too bad. It was mostly the heat that bothered me.

If you like the dessert parties I'd definitely look into World Of Color dessert party. You get desserts, fruit and cheese plus a reserved table and chairs to watch the show.

If your grandkids like character meals, Goofy's is in the Disneyland Hotel. We go there every visit. Plaza Inn in Disneyland is very popular, too.

It's a good idea to get a book. You'll have so many fun things to do and have a great time

Disneyland Hotel is a perfect place to stay--it's so full of history (literally--there are walls and walls of pictures and memorabilia). Your kids would probably love Trader Sam's/Tangaroa, and it's easy to go there without a reservation and sit outside. I think it's really cool on the terrace and much easier than trying to get a reservation for indoors, which has very limited seating. Lots of people like Goofy's Kitchen for the character meal but I personally don't love buffets. I went to Storyteller's recently and it was very fun with decent food and great character interaction but quite pricey for me. I went because my daughter is a character CM and I got to see her in action.

My kids always loved Blue Bayou!! We went every trip. I still do. Don't be afraid to share meals.

If you have a room in the Fantasy tower at DLH, you often will get a good view of the fireworks from your room. Sometimes that's a nice option!

I love going in July. The heat isn't that bad to me (I live in Northern CA where it is much hotter in July) and it's not humid like WDW. DL's birthday is July 17 and I often go then. There isn't much fanfare but it's my tribute to be there and appreciate it.

You will have a wonderful time! Take time to notice the little details as you pass by. Many people never really look closely, and that's harder to do on a first visit with kids along but there's so much that is missed when you're just rushing around.

Thank you for all the wonderful info -coming from the gulf coast of Texas we are definitely used to humidity and heat but that doesn’t mean we love it. Since we will be on central time I am assuming that we will be good for early entry at least on day 1 and 2 after that who knows.

The people who have issues with the heat at DLR in July have no idea what Oklahoma, Texas, and Florida are like that time of year. When we are at DLR in July we say "it is a dry heat" as opposed to the ridiculous humidity you are used to at home. We have always thought the weather felt wonderful at DLR in July- so much better than home. It might feel hot in the afternoon if you are out directly in the sun-- but mornings and evenings are usually perfect and afternoons are manageable. We hear Californians complaining how miserably hot it is, when we think the weather is wonderful. It is all relative to what you are used to at home. It is SOOOOO much better than WDW in the summer or early fall. I will say though that we have not hit one of those weeks where they have had overly crazy heat waves at DLR- just typical summer weather.

That first morning when you are used to central time--- you should be able to get there early and get a ton done before the crowds pick up. DLR in the early mornings is usually wonderful!

I agree with this as a lifetime California Resident. Honestly July is not even our hottest time of year and I find that September and October to be much worse than July.
