Disneyland Half Marathon Weekend 2009 - WISH meet

It appears to me, that the first overpass next to the Mickey & Friends Parking lot has been eliminated!

We will now be exiting somewhere Backstage onto Disneyland Drive. I think near the bottom of the downslope of the overpass, just before the right hand turn onto Ball Road.

Whoo hooo, one less hill.

I've been poking around the internet looking at flights, and it seems I won't be getting out there until 11:00 PM or later that Friday. I'm up for a kid-friendly Saturday meet or a pre- or post-race mini meet instead, if anyone else is up for that.

In-formal, sitting out front of Jamba Juice?
Inside the Grand California lobby?

Casual, cocktails at the Hook's hideaway bar?

Sit down dinner, somewhere in Downtown Disney, at a Disney Hotel, or over at Anaheim Garden Walk ?

I want your imput, rather than me saying it's my decision of where and when.

Come on WISHers, let's get this figured out. Time is a tickin' !

I love Hook's Hideaway Bar.....they make great nachos! Not sure if this location presents a problem for those that have kiddies, but I can never pass up a margarita......even if it is the night before a race!

I'm good with either casual (Jamba Juice, Starbucks, etc.) or cocktail ... prefer not to do a sit down dinner, but that's just my 2 cents worth. I'm still voting for Friday night too, since I'll be coming to the expo on Friday and would like to hang out a bit before heading home... I like the idea of Downtown Disney, either at Jamba Juice or Wetzel's Pretzels. Then if we want to go eat we have lots of places to choose from, or if we want to get a drink we can go into the bar part of the restaurants.

Anyone else?

I'm officially registered to run the Disneyland 1/2 again this year, as is my husband. We are planning on coming without kids this year! I'm deciding between the Fairfield Inn and Disneyland Hotel. Hopefully we'll have time to meet up! We're making it a quick trip!

Last year we stayed at the Maingate Residence Inn and I wasn't too thrilled with it. The Residence Inn Garden Grove I like though, it's just a little farther down Harbor.

I'm a last minute addition. $99 AA flights and a surprise roomie made it (almost) affordable. I think at some point I may make the Princess Half in March and the Disneyland Half in September my only two races.

Does anyone know of the hotels that will have the shuttles for race AM?? I can't seem to find this information.

Last year we were "lucky" and the hotel we made reservations at was on the hotel shuttle pick up route.

Looking at doing a Sheraton since I have points I can use..yeah!

Add me and DH Z-man to the list; we'll be doing the 5k on Saturday and should be getting into town sometime in the afternoon. Can't remember the exact name of the place we stayed last year - Castle something, I think - and will probably stay there again this year. It's walking distance to the gate.

Looking forward to meeting you all this time! We missed you at last year's meet up - I think we were engrossed in the shopping! ;-)

I just added the 5k too... I have a friend who is doing her first race ever and I offered to pace her; little does she know that I secretly wanted to do it tee hee!

Have we decided on a meeting place yet? Cheesecake factory is now open at Garden Walk, and there are some new places scheduled to open this summer... I'm still voting for a Friday meet, for what its worth...

Hi all! Add Eric and I to the list of registrants for the DL 1/2! I'm very excited as this will be my first race, and DH is going for his coast to coast medal!

We are flying in Friday afternoon, so my vote would be for a meet Saturday morning in downtown disney for Jamba or coffee and a roll at La Brea Bakery. We're booked to stay at Disneyland Hotel. Can't beat that convenience factor, especially because DH will be finishing the race around an hour to an hour and 15 ahead of me - difference between a runner and a walker!
