Disneyland Half Marathon 2024

Thanks all! This is why this group is so important; I didn't get a rundisney email about the start locations, otherwise I'd still be clueless. Count my group as another group holding two reservations (one at DL Hotel and one on Harbour) and was just about to take the plunge and cancel the Harbour one! Yikes! Rethinking that!!!!! I've gone in and did my waiver now too. Glad to see the info is coming!!!!! I'm doing the 10k and starting my training plan this week! Getting sooooo excited!!!!

True, but if they know where the start/finish is going to be, then they probably already have the course planned. They could give us a map, even if the course isn’t officially measured yet. I’ve never seen them send out an email announcing that they have a spot for the start/finish of a race. That just seems bizarre of them to give us that little tidbit of information. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I think they just enjoy messing with us.
I think they realized they needed to give people a heads up if they booked hotels with the intention of being near the start. I don’t recall them ever doing this. It’s also… kinda late for that heads up.

I wish they gave this heads up then like months ago... it is very late now. Almost everyone already has their reservation now. Like they did not even time this with when u could book the packages.

Since Disney built a parking lot on Disney Way, it seems to make sense that the race would start over there. As I recall it was crowded when going through security. I hope logistically this works out better. Unfortunately, I booked my room so I would be close to the old start line. At least I will have a nice morning stroll before the races.

For those of you who may not follow the Budget Board, there is a great post about a Target Circle offer via TripAdvisor where you can save 20% on Disneyland tickets. I was able to buy a 3-day park hopper for Half Marathon Weekend for $336 (compared to $420).

With rumored ticket hikes coming soon, I was very happy to lock in my ticket for this trip now at 20% off the current price.

This is a great deal!

I just bought my Disneyland tickets a week or so ago. :headache:

I've stayed at the JW and walked to DL from this area many, many times. It is about 10 minutes to the park gates (going through Garden Walk) and 15 to the DL Hotel -- maybe 20 if you go the long way to Paradise Pier. Historically they have allowed people to walk through DTD, but depending where security check is, it may be better to use main roads.

I doubt they will run shuttles for the masses.

I was only planning on *one* day in the parks for this trip but uhhh... this is not much more expensive than a one day park hopper.

They need to have at least plans for disabled attendees though. 15 minutes is walkable if you’re able bodied but after a race for a disabled person? No.

And I would not want to be the one to explain to the able bodied masses that they’re only doing select shuttles.

Also tbh considering they had some shuttles before even if they didn’t go all the way. It feels weird to not remember you had shuttles before and people might be expecting it

Oh of course they will need some shuttles for specific groups, but I'm sure there are newbies to DL that don't realize they don't run a full transportation system like the WDW races do. I stayed offsite for the 2017 Tink races and we walked, but we had also planned to do so. I suspect they are putting this info out now in part to determine what the demand may be for shuttles for the general participants.

Has anyone had any luck using that Target Circle deal and getting longer than a 3 day ticket for race weekend dates? That's all that shows up for me and I'd like a 5 day (well, really a 6 day but it looks like 5 is the max)

I am shocked about where the half starts! I was kinda bummed about not staying onsite, but now the start is right outside my hotel door! I am not sure if this change has anything to do with the City of Anaheim, as they had put a hold on any Disneyland races, not sure if part of the agreement is having a different start/finish for the half?

It's still going to be GREAT!!! We are going to Disneyland!!!!! I hope you are all having a good training season!

I think I’m finally getting over the panic of realizing that our “perfect planning” and splurge on the DL hotel might make our run a bit harder and I’m coming to terms with embracing a long warm up walk for the half with those of us sharing in the same situation. It’s going to be ok, right?!
It sure is!!! We are going to Disneyland and will be there for the first races in a long time!!! It's going to be fantastic no matter where each of us is staying. I am so excited!!! Here we come Mickey and Minnie!!!

Great fortune for you now!! I wondered the same about the city of Anaheim. I’m really looking forward to seeing the course - hopefully soon?

Thanks for posting this! I've been going back and forth between 2 and 3 day hoppers. This makes the 3 day hopper a little less than the 2 day through DL, so made my decision much easier!

Thank you for posting this! Between this Target offer, cash back on the Chase card, and 12% promo code in Rakuten today we saved $375+ for our DL weekend tickets!!

I’m also at DL hotel, even got into the new DVC with my points! Was a bit bummed at the start line but then I remembered that in the Disney World races you have to catch a bus at 3 am to the “start” line….and then still walk a mile to the actual start line. :)

For anyone else trying to do the Target Circle deal but stuck on only 3 day tickets available for race weekend, I did what someone else in the deal thread did. I changed the date to 12/31/23 and then a 5 day with Genie+ was available. I purchased that and then linked the ticket on Disneyland.com. It just shows as a 5 day with no dates anywhere. It allowed me to make park reservations off that ticket for my race weekend dates.

I also did it through the Rakuten app for the 12% back but I'm not too familiar with them. Is there anywhere in the app where I can see like an Order History type thing showing that it counted my TripAdvisor order?
