I booked on the other side of Harbor, at the Best Western Anaheim Inn. I've been stalking prices since booking, just to see if something better comes along. There's only one room type left, a 2 queen studio. Before I went to dinner with my wife, it was $301/night. Coming back from dinner, it's now $305/night! That's rack, before any discounts.
Now I don't know if they haven't released their entire inventory, and preying on FOMO, or if everything legitimately is booked. But that's rather baffling.
The BWAI is tiny, a whopping 88 total rooms! I imagine they likely hold some inventory back but I doubt when released it will be any cheaper. I have stayed at the BWPPI a few times and rates never got cheaper when I checked back, I never booked quite 11 months in advance but given the race I can't imagine they would feel any need to lower rates given the demand. I paid 215/night before fees at the Anaheim Inn in summer 2021 for reference, 305 is a big jump but 2021 was also pretty low crowds given the pandemic.
Edit: It looks like BWPPI rates for sure shot up since a week or two ago, now it is showing 363/night before fees for
AAA. I forget what it was last I looked, just remember it was higher than I wanted to pay, I think it was more in the realm of 325 though. It will be interesting to watch the rates these next months.
A couple more data points. Using my corporate rate (about 20%) I booked HoJo and Wyndham Anaheim a few weeks ago. In the last week or so, HoJo rates for my room went up by about $12/night, but they did not go up any more today. The Wyndham Anaheim however is SIGNIFICANTLY more expensive than a few weeks ago. A week ago it went up about $30/night from what I paid, and today the cheapest room I booked is no longer available for my corporate rate and the next closest room is $100/night more than I paid. Even if you do not have a corporate rate, if you are booking HoJo/Wyndham there are a ton of 15% influencer/
travel agent codes out there that are a bit better than the AAA rate. I will continue to monitor. I'm not sure which I'll keep, the HoJo is closer but the Wyndham rate I got is less than $1,000 total for four nights, and is $300 cheaper than Hojo. The AAA rate at Wyndham is now $1,600 total, phew!!! May be artificially high due to demand today, time will tell. I know Marriott plays this game, with the Swan/Dolphin rates at WDW being $400/night one day and $650/night the next.
